Photographer’s Note

The moment the sun is about to set, everything goes very quiet. It almost feels as if everyone holds his breath until the sun has disappeared and be reassured that the world still turns.

Burmese people enjoy this moment of the day that they look upon as a time of meditation, but also a time to relax and even to enjoy a moment of romance.

This is a last image taken at sunset while standing on the U Bein's bridge. This scene helps me to recall that quiet moment of which the peacefulness still moves me. Sitting on the edge of the bridge, the legs daggling above the water, while enjoying the change of colours in the sky, the tranquil movements of the rower, and the dark silhouettes in the background, trying their luck while night fishing.

This splendid picture catches immediately the attention. I'd crop a bit the sky. It needs also a slight anticlockwise rotation but the placid atmosphere is perfectly given.

Dag Sabine,

je D50 heeft je blijkbaar geen windeieren gelegd. Ik durf niet gokken hoeveel foto's je in Myanmar genomen hebt, maar ik vermoed heel veel. En deze is ook wel een pareltje ! Buiten de rimpels van het bootje lijkt me dat een ooo zo stil wateroppervlak.

Sabine,
I love this kind of pictures where the sun does colorize the sky, you have shown in the las three posted pictures the development of a technique that reinforces the sky colors puting the rest of object and persons in a dark siluette. Congratulations for the interpretation of the burmese peoples feelings at days end.
I agree with Zanni, it would be better with a slight anticlockwise rotation.

Ik wil toch nog even reargeren op deze.....omdat hij zo mooi is...!!!
Prachtig kleuren palet met oog voor detail gefotografeerd. Misschien had het bootje nog iets hoger mogen zitten, maar dat was misschien niet eens mogelijk geweest.
Vind hem zo ook al erg mooi....typisch een Bien plaatje ;-)

your placement of the boat is fabulous, but i have to say that it's so sad to see his beautiful reflection and water ripples cut off. i like the soft purple and orange colours and perfect silhouettes.
