Great shot, Lujo. This is NOT a throw away stalk shot at all, but eminently "stalkable" in its own right. I love the division in two with the mosaic and the absolute WHITE light behind teh old fella - no way around ti that is how the light is there, and one might as well use it rarther than pretyend it isn't there (dynamic range issues...)

hahaha! oh dear! What a droll link!! Are you sure you two didn't plan this a year apart! Great contrast between the two halves - shape, colour, solidity, surface texture, hardness, softness - I really like this a lot for the character of the man too - well what we can tell form his sleeping form (and his dreams of course).

I'm not sure I like the RHS of the photo, this mosaic of glass and tiles. I would be more interested to see what's behind the old fella, in what context is he sleeping? Although I accept that may have been technically very difficult due to the strong backlighting.

Non sérieux, excellent ce petit moment que t'as chopé, superbe cette position, je sais pas comment il fait pour roupiller mais en tous cas ca a l'air de lui réussir.
Je trouve ce 50-50 intéressant et les teintes claires de droite qui se rapporte à la partie de gauche c'est bon.

several times that I was fascinated by Asian people, how the sleep in all kinds of positions. So even this old man on the chair. A great composition. I like the division of your pic in two parts. The wall with the mosaic works fine. A great contrast to the bright background of the sleeper.

I enjoy the 1/2 division of the frame with beautiful contrasting 'texture' and patterns - of that person's skin & the decorations.
It seems a very mathematical shot to me, with all those great shapes - of his parallel legs and also parallel arms; matching with the solidness of the squares and symmetrical patterns. Great setting, well spotted. TFS!

i really like the wall next to the man...adds a lot of character to your comp. i only wished you showed the complete image of the chair...i think it would be more balanced/symmetrical had you done so.

Well I saw a documentary on the 'iceman' last night (the thousand year old body that had been found in some snow and was almost-perfectly preserved) and this man here looks like a splitting image of his remains.

A great daily life shot, made effective by the patterns and grit on the tiles.

hey luko. this is an unbelievable shot. i don't say that because of fantastic technical composition, i say it because your subject is amazing. he looks so old and almost hollow. wow!

it's interesting how you've composed this, with the builiding's shiny tiles next to the ragged old man. it's a good shot and a good composition.

i would have liked to see a close up of the old man. a portrait of his sleeping face would have been worth a million points! ;)

your ipod workshop is funny. something of a juxtaposition to this old man's reality.

Une photo saisie au bon moment avec un très bon cadrage et un partage (osé mais original) en deux parties égales. Une seule (toute) petite réserve pour moi, le fond blanc derrière l'homme trop lumineux et qui attire trop mes yeux...fatigués.

Contrairement à Rowan, j'y vois plutot un remake made in Maynmar d'une pub de la Volkswagen Sharan avec un fond musical "I like to Move it". Trop cool cette position, le bonheur à l'état pur. A morceau de vie pris à la volée, volée sans volet !

Attention de ne pas reveiller papy avec la fort lumiere. Par contre je n'arrive pas à comprendre ce 50/50 (s'il ya qqc à comprendre bien sur) et cette partie de droite ... Je sèche, je préfère appeller un ami Jean-Pierre !

Is he sleeping, or is he recovering from a long night of partying?
THe washed out white background creates a great canvas to set the rest of the scene. You have captured this character very well by his expression as well as the texture of his skin.

He really does appear to be in mid-leap. The man has sleeping skills. A gorgeous shot, with that insane high-key background -- I see where you got the heaven reference from. Not to mention the very fine stained-glass window (or is it mirrors?), which looks like one of the props in someone's version of heaven. Nicely done.

Bon, il m'énerve lui à pioncer comme un loire alors que je suis cloîtrée au bureau à regarder des photos sur TE ;o) Non mais sans blague, j'ai senti mes paupières s'alourdir rien qu'en regardant le thumbnail...et ça fait des jours que ça dure !! Il faut donc que j'exorcise le sort en postant une note :
A part le côté frustrant de la scène (et je reconnais en toi ce côté sadique), je vois que tu t'es employé à faire (comme pour la scène à la chemise marron "tendance") une belle séparation bien nette (avoue que tu as eu de la chance qu'il soit justement contre ce mur, et en plus à son extrémité) entre l'homme aux tons "humains" (marron, tiens là encore...) et l'oeuvre de l'homme aux couleurs vives.
L'arrière plan sur-exposé accentue le focus sur la larve (euh pardon...l'homme endormi) et donne une impression de chaleur accablante (août 2003 le retour...oh c'est glauque ça...).
Bref, j'A-DOWE ! :-)

The picture kompositorisch divided in the center shows typical burmese impressions. One finds the glasmosaiken in nearly all temples. And the old man reminds me of old man, whom I saw in a home for the elderly. It is interesting that the sleeping man put like a baby to the rear. Picture worth seeing and a very well composed.
