Photographer’s Note
He spent his childhood as a boat boy, giving a hand to his parents around the Yangon docks, sometimes he turned his head around and looked with envy to the other kids playing on their bikes in the streets.
Later on, he just couldn't look away from the bigger boats, wishing they would carry him, far away from that place.
-----------------------
Last night I drifted down to the docks
The water... glittering and black.
...
I thought I'd dissolve when the beacon revolved.
I just get so carried away.
Once I had a ship, yes I had a map
I had the wind like a tree has sap
I sank into these banks of clay

Bravo!
Beautiful image with a story back! With a song back...
A photo reflecting a story.
Great catch of the sad expression of this little guy, Luko. Inspiring image.
A smile

merci.

I would prefer to see him a bit higher in the frame. I know why you've done it like you have, the blurred boats in the background are nice but to me he seems almost incidental to the shot as a whole. It's almost like two separate shots pasted together - the background and the foreground totally unrelated. Maybe you could have taken a lower vantage point then put him to the right of the boats in a horizontal shot?

The picture by it's self is one of the best portraits I've seen here on TE. But then you created a story for it that fits so perfectly, like peotry. Well done. Thanks for sharing this one.

Bonsoir Luko,

your note matches the expression you caught on his face.
lovely portrait...it's nice bc the colours you captured in the foreground pic is a nice accent to the colours in the background of your pic.
job well done.

Well done again. i am enjoying your portraits from Myanmar very much Luko. They are classically composed but extremely pleasing to the eye. I hope you post more of them.
Cheers

beautiful image, amazing clarity.the look on the boy's face is candid and goes well with the theme. the boats in the background has added weight to your notes ..

A bouquet of bokeh from 'Et tu' Luko! Like Francis today, this one also paints a pensive mood, but here we see a pair of sharply penetrating eyes. The space above the boy's head gives me enough perspective. But again, the bokeh is too strong for me. I wish for a bit less, perhaps a little more imperfect than these perfectly circular luminous spots. Just me! Just today, I am not in a symmetrical mood.

Nice follow up- you have a very creative story going on. The detail on that hat is very eye catching, but luckily it doesn't distract from his face and that puppy dog expression. I like the way the bokeh looks, but without the note I'm not sure I would have been able to guess they were boats. Nice lighting. I applaud your creativity.

i like the framing of this and the fact that we can see his eyes, a good riposte to francis' image. once again i think i would like a bit less on the bokeh , but maybe thats just me =)

Bonjour Luko,
A lovely portrait.
Interactivity on TE goes on...
The links to Francis'photos are such a nice idea. I wonder though if you would have posted this one without "the purpose of the game". :o)

This is the perfect "verso" to "The Low Season", Luko, litreally as it gives a future dreamer a face... Your bokeh has a crisp quality at f5.0 that I really like, much less fluffy that the dreamy f2.8, a difference purpose too. Remarkably good lyrics by Tom Verlaine. I think our friends are really enjoying this dual adventure.

Salut Luko.

nice , but distante is this portrait Luko. You do not try to look into the person, but treat the boy as a part of a scenery

Quoi ?

Nice shot Luko with perfect composition and framing, a great depth of field but above all the quixotic expression on the boy's face.

coucou
ba moi j'adore celle-ci
bravo
