This is another shot from my morning in Bagan. I had such a great time. Sunrise and suset time is so special that you feel like in some kind of fairy tale. Light turns that fabulous place into very mystic environemnt.

My previous Bagan posting

Bagan, more popularly know as the city of four million pagodas and temples, the Birth Place of Therabardha buddhism is located on the eastern bank of Majestic Ayeyawaddy River. It is only a forty two square kilo meters land which is confined by over 2500 Pagodas and temples. In former days as well as now, the pilgrims are allowed to climb on the top vestibules or terrace from where view the mystical panorama of Bagan. Some of the biggest pagodas were closed for climbing, but there is still sufficient number of them to enjoy the view from.

Balloon Over Bagan
As Marco polo described "one of the finest sights in the world" now visitors to Myanmar can view the unique and enchanting view of the 11th century ruin as it has never been seen before. Imagine floating over thousands year old pagodas and the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River, as the sun sinks slowly behind distant mountains. Balloons over Bagan provide visitors a unique opportunity to see this ancient kingdom, as it never has been before. The sunrise and sunset champagne flights last just under one hour and take off daily from October through to the end of March.

The balloon is guided by gentle winds not exceeding 15 mph, allowing passengers a serene and bird's-eye view of ancient temples drifting by using his skill the pilot is able to guide the balloon to a gentle landing on the banks of Ayeyarwaddy River, or in an open field, where the crew and the celebratory glass of champagne will be on hand. Te Balloon over Bagan service operates twice daily early in the morning just before sunset and late in the evening just before sunset between late October and April.

And just to let you know price is - US$240 per person.. (btw average salary in Myanmar is 10-20$ a month/goverenment, and around 40$ a month in private sector)

Really lovely composition, you have got all the temple spires and balloons in a perferct position. The silhouettes make a strong statement. Very nice

Hi Lucie
The mist here gives real depth to the shot, with its distant layers. The image is visually striking with the silhouetted dagobase, and the balloons are an interesting and attractive addition. Wonderfully atmospheric.
Susanna

Again, Lucie,
This another superb shot! The composition with these majestic dark silluettes in foreground, framing the view to the background is very, very good! Great misty atmosphere and lovely layers in the back. The baloons work very well in the landscape. I love this very good work of yours! Congratulations once more and thanks for sharing,
Have a nice day,
Ricardo

Very nice capture Lucie, I appreciate this composition with this silhouetted foreground which gives a good depth to the scene. The balloons are a big bonus, very nice work.

Best

Beautiful near monochromatic pic, Lucie, where the distant balloons seem to mock or mimic the multiplicity of pagodas in the vast ruin landscape of Bagan.
Beautiful!
Best,
Francis

Hi Lucie,

What a beautifull compo. I've seem others pictures from this place but the ballons on this one give an impressive touch. It's nice to see their silhoette bettewen the pagoda's ones. Cheers,

Hi Lucie

People before say almost everything that have to be said about your fine photo.

I'd only add that my first association when i spoted ballons is giant raindrop falling from misty sky.

beautiful mood you captured Lucy. The continuous curvy flow of the environment blends nicely with the architectural side of the far east. Their architecture is significantly different from western architecture. It emphasizes harmony instead of challenge and therefore does not deliver sharp forms that can be seen from other western monuments.

Very nice pic.

Harmony in this picture is amazing. Very good and special shot. TFS.
