Photographer’s Note
"Farmer's Song"
Well I hate to say the farmer
Was the last of a dying breed
Living off the land
And taking what he needs
Don't say much for the future
When a family can't survive
I'd hate to say the farmer
Was the last of his kind.
In the struggle for parity
Not one man's voice can sound
Cause the foundation
of the conglomerate
Is firmly in the ground.
Yeah, they want to feed the world
But for power and for greed
Then they'll cut off the supply
Until they get what they need.
Well I dreamed I saw a dust bowl
Where the farmers used to live
Earth was flying through the sky
It had nothing left to give
Tractors were burning
On the Whitehouse lawn
Just woke up one morning
And the farmers all were gone
I hate to say the farmer
Was the last of a dying breed
Living off the land
And taking what he needs.
Don't say much for the future
When a family can't survive.
I'd hate to say the farmer
Was the last of his kind.
Don't say much for the future
When a family can't survive.
I'd hate to say the farmer
Was the last of his kind.

WHat can I say, Paolo. PAOLO! You've got that beautiful, thick Herzog thing going and then you KILL me with the Neil Yound song that fits the darn thing like a glove... You leave me no choice, no alternative but to say: YES, a lovely , sad, wistful scene lovingly captured in film.
You have your own "look" there and I just know it's you on the page.
Bravo!
Ciao, Francis

A good shot but picture has strange kind of fuzzyness. The border choice could have been better. I've seen sometimes that adding thick border shrinks the framed picture which renders it with lesser sharpness.

Hi Paolo
Perhaps I'd add a little cyan & blue to this image. But composition & mood, are superb. A wonderful daily life shot from SEA. Good work!

It sems that you uncovered a treasure in old photos. This one looks much older than 7 years, it kind of reminds me of very old photos of Vietnam or Cambodia from the 1960s and 1970s, thanks I guess to the loss of quality in scanning. The composition itself is very peaceful and very breathtaking due to the immense beauty of the land.

Beautiful shot, Paolo !
A mysterious atmosphere in this well elaborated picture.
I think you've gone a bit too far in the PP. There is a halo around the man's legs and a lack of details. Sharpenning process, I guess.
All by all a good one.

Celso

I like your composition to show us this capture of daily life. It looks like a stormy atmosphere with the colours and the dark clouds.

Che bella Paolo, una foto che la dice lunga sulla estrema diversità di questo paese dai nostri standard di vita. La foto è semplice, ben composta, con ogni cosa al giusto posto (solo forse avrei tagliato la persona all'estrema sinistra).
Ciao,

Paolo,
This is Great!...The tone is just right for the Mood...Very poetic indeed...
Kind of tragic..All over the developing countries...
But it is not just way of make living, but a way of life which runs deeper inside...Farmer just doesn`t make a living by tilling...He practies a life...
God!...It churns a lot of nostalgic feelings!...
Thanks for the experience,
Prem.

Nice composition and beautiful greenland and peaceful life of farmers. I miss alot of those scenes. The color is a bit overcast or may be the frame color is over powering??? But a good shot for sure.

i have to say Paolo that you have a very impressive portfolio on Trek Earth. So many good photos! The composition, deep green of the field offset against the overcast sky make this a striking photo. As someone else has pointed out the scan isn't the best quality, however, the photo is still very good i think. Well done
