Buddha Making Village Photo

Photographer’s Note

Halfway in between Mandalay and Amarapura, there is this village (which is more like a suburb of Mandalay). ITs quite a nice change from the concrete and tile architecture of mandalay with low level houses and many workshops were buddha images are produced. The village is crisscrossed by small dirt lanes with statues, stupas and such but is somwhat different than what we see in other parts of Myanmar. Its traditional Asia at its best.

I hope it doesnt suffer from the concrete invasion.

Hi Daniel,
The almost silhouette foreground is smartly used in this shot. It provides very good contrast with the brightly lit background. The local flavour is strong and well recorded. Thanks and all the best.

Buenos dias Daniel, foto interesante y la nota tambien, pero me habria gustado ver la stupa grande entera, pero supongo que tenias que eligir entre el ciclista o la stupa.....

A nice one Daniel, due to the wonderful colourful dragon and stupas and also the people. The cyclist in particular is very well placed in your frame. The only slight constructive criticism i can imagine would be that it would be nice to see the top of the stupa. But it is a nice image and very evocative of east Asia.

Cutting the tops off of the statues and structures behind puts the attention on the people in front, which I like. You might even consider cropping more off the top to really make this effective. Nice work.

Je vais être honnête sur cette photo car TE est une communauté où l'on échange des avis. Alors j'espère que ce que je vais dire ne sera pas mal interprété ;o)
Je pense qu'il est très dommage de ne pas voir le haut des "monuments". En outre, je ne suis pas convaincue par la composition car mes yeux ne peuvent se poser sur un point précis. Il aurait été intéressant de prendre le cycliste de plus près ou plus excentré pour qu'il prenne plus de poids dans la composition. enfin, les blancs sont surexposés alors que le groupe de personnes à droite est très sombre.
Disons juste que pour moi, ça accroche pas. clairement une question de goût. C'est comme le titre de l'émission éponyme "on ne peut pas plaire à tout le monde".
