Intha Fisherman Photo

Photographer’s Note

While the Intha women are famous for their silk weaving, many of the men are skilled fisherman on Inle Lake. They are famous for using their legs to row to give the arms a rest.
Inle is a shallow lake, not more than 4m in most places, and the fisherman are often seen laying traps from the prow of their canoe.

Hi Mark, nice, this total-front picture! It's very centered, maybe a little bit too much.. it makes the composition "too perfect" really - while you can be creative with filling up the photograph as well.
Anyway, I do like it. The shadowy-blue at the bottom of the pic is beautiful.

I portrait of the a fisherman. very good lighting, sharpness and color contrast. i just hope you have included some of the sea for better view of where he's fishing rather than making him center but that just me. keep posting photo....rgds

This is a remarkable picture, mark. I agree with the above comments about positioning. It's rather too central and not quite enough water in front. However, it’s still a sensational image. It’s sharp and the pose is perfect and the colour wonderful. It is a memorable picture. The more I look at it the more I love it. Thanks for sharing.

Great head-on shot creates a perfect composition. I like the "halo" formed around the man by the net. The angle of the oar adds dynamism. Nice reflection in the water. The only criticism: if you took this when the sun is lower, maybe we could see the man's eyes.

Good shot, I like the simple composition and simpleness of this fisherman's craft, barely big enough to fit him on never mind what ever he catches. I have a shot of an english fisherman on my profile, take a look, a nice contrast in culture and style.
