It seems that this tea-shop has seen better days. It was deserted, no customers, the glass snack cabinets were empty. And yet it had a certain charm that I was drawn too, not too mention the enormous coffee advert and the owner smoking her cheroot in the doorway.

I love the message here. The slogans of "light" and "health" have become real obessessions over here in the rich countries of the west, and seem rather out of place in Myanmar. The old woman, quietly enjoying her cheroot, doesn't seem to be worrying too much about whether the product is light or not. She is right, of course.

Hi Elaine. No razzamatazz and bells and whistles- just a sleepy little spot where time moves ever so slowly and leaves its fingerprints on wood, glass, paint and face.Wonderful observation expertly conveyed. Regards. Klaudio.
