[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Bagan is well-known for its amazing sight of the plain of 3000+ stupas. There is a lesser known treasure of Bagan, its mural paintings. While everyone have seen the exquisite carvings of Angkor Wat, very few articles have delved on the mural paintings of Bagan. Mostly, because most of these paintings are not accessible to the usual travelers. As luck has it, I had the chance to follow the Bagan Archaeological team on their survey for one day and it has open my eyes to something that I have not even thought of seeing.

The villages that was in the Bagan Archaeological plain has been forcefully moved in order to "protect" the sites. Only a few families are allowed to stay behind. The privilege came with a price, they become the caretakers for the temples.

In some of the accessible temples such as this one, pilgrims sometimes left behind offerings.

This boy bended to pick up a fallen wooden Buddha, I backed up to the wall, he straightened up, I raised the camera, he lifted the statue, I pressed the shutter.

Yep a good shot and a fine timing, but I think it deserves a better processing taking advantage of that wonderful light, something more "glowing" from the inside. I think you could also emphasize on the sizes differences with a very slight cropping.

Would you see my WS?

Ah! This is really good Thien! It's the kind of picture I keep looking at, especially because of how you have captured the light... Oughts to go in my "Light Theme" :o)

I agree with Luko about the idea of emphasizing the differences in size, but where to do that? It looks like everything is needed here, maybe just a bit of the bottom (just above the black clothe of the boy?) and a bit of the right?

* Oooooops! Just saw Luko got the same idea, I like his WS but I prefer your B&W.

Have a wonderful Winter Holiday Thien! Amitiés - Viviane

ooooh this is a nice one thien..
i love the way you've played with the light here.. though luko has rectified some weaknesses in this photograph.
the difference of sizes has already been mentioned here :(
i hope i catch you early the next time :)
take care

great capture of lighting and the choice of b/w works well here. Good perspective to show the scale of statue and boy!
