Photographer’s Note

Young ladies of the Pa-O (Inle Lake )
Descendants of the Mon who are thought to have fled here from Thaton in Lower Burma when it fell to King Anawrahta of Bagan in the 11th century.

The men and women dress in black or very dark blue, with brightly coloured turbans made from scarves or towels wound around the head in a variety of styles.

A beautiful photo of a beautiful young lady. I like it how she looks very peacefully straight into the camera, very pretty portrait. I'm glad you captured this mild, almost-smiling look. The B&W works nice, too (would you mind adding the original as a workshop, though?).

i like your explanation about the colors but i am a bit lost with a b&w shot! So is it a man or a woman?? haha!! i guess a woman because of the earrings... je regrette la couleur

Good portrait! It works well in bw even though you explain the colors in the note ;)
Composition wise I think you could maybe chose a little different... Either to include more of the market since it's allready pretty busy around her head (a little disturbing in a portrait), or zooming in a little more. To chose such a noisy background you could've played more on it to create a tension between her calmness and the bustling market...

A beautiful portrait of this striking young woman. She seems almost regal and her confidence comes through in the shot. Good printing and composition make this shot a great one!
