Photographer’s Note
I was fortunate enough to visit Inle lake when the Phaung Daw U Pagoda festival was in progress. During the 18 day long celebration, four revered Buddha images were conveyed to monasteries on the lake in a gilded barge in the shape of the hintha, the golden swan of Burmese legend (photos to come). Here, on the penultimate day of the festival, teams of rowers celebrate on their boats before the arrival of the hintha. Over the next few days, I will post more photos taken during this festival.
