Photographer’s Note
The longest wooden bridge in the world, Upain bridge of 1,600m was constructed about 130 years ago by mayor Upain for the monks. There were about 30,000 monks in Madalay city and it was not easy for them to beg around the far villages for alms every morning which took more than 2 hours, so the mayor Upain decided to construct the bridge with his own private money to make short cut for the monks to reach the villages quite easily through the bridge that takes only half an hour today.

Hi Lee,
Lovely photograph of the magnificient bridge. I loved the clarity of the image and the marvelous reflection that you got on the water. The presence of the monk in red with the blue sky in the backdrop has added to the dramatic feel of the ancient past. The note is also pretty interesting. TFS.

Hello JS.
Great photo, with marvellous light and perspective. I love the sunlit poles of the bridge, under that darkening sky. And of course, there's the shimmering reflection and the extra special part - the red robe of the monk beginning his journey across the bridge. You have to click on the thumbnail to see his tiny presence. It really is an enormous wooden bridge - I don't remember seeing it when I visited Mandalay, but then it was 32 years ago!
Great photo and good note.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi JS Lee,
Splendid composition.
I like the rows of the poles
illuminated by the evening sun
creating superb reflection. The
person clad in red gives life to
this motive.
Have a nice weekend.
