Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken in Mahagandhayon Monastery, in Amarapura, the "City of Immortality" and former capital of Burma. Today Amarapura has the biggest monastery in Myanmar, which shelters around 1000 monks. What we see here are some of the people who help preparing their meals, in this case they are preparing the meat.

Hello Ana,
I hope I am right to assume that these are not monks who don't normally eat meat. They seems well fed and healthy. Good light on the main subject, the man in blue T-shirt and the basket provide a nice foreground interest.

A wonderful daily life scene. You have really captured it well. It looks like these men are totally unaware of that you are taking a photo of the. The inclusion of the dogs eagerly awaiting their share of the meal is great. TFS and have a nice weekend!

Dear Ana

Good shot from daily life in a Buddhist monastery in Burma. Meat preparation by the monks, it is interesting, because in Thailand monks only eat alms given by the devotees, as it looks in Burma they cook themselves. The focal point, the meat is out of the center what adds to the fine composition of the photograph with the baskets to the right. Good use of available light to produce highly saturated colors with high sharpness. well done

Hi Ana,
It has been much too long since I last visited your gallery. I've been off the site for various reasons for the past couple of months but it's good to be back.
I like this shot very much, apart from the quality which is excellent, I like the human touch that you've captured. Is there anything more human than preparing a meal. It's good to see everyone pitching in, the look on their faces says it all, no stress here of big city urbanization, no plastic shopping bags being wheeled to the car from the supermarket, just quiet interaction amongst the four men.
I love the two dogs waiting in the wings for their share.
A lovely snapshot of the daily life of these people.

MUITO BOA A CENA, BELA NITIDEZ, LUZ E CORES, gosto do ponto de vista, ams acho que se imagem fosse um pouco mais abrangente ficaria ainda melhor do que é, o homem de azul ficou um pouco de fora da cena, acho que vc queria apanhar também os pilares ao fundo. de qualquer maneira é uma bela imagem.

A good slice of life shot. The light was well managed and the men are properly exposed. They seem unconcerned that you are there with a camera.
