As I said in some previous posts, the only transportation at Inle lake is possible by boats, mostly small wooden rowing-boats, but recently, some have outboard motors.

This photo was taken in the "streets" of Nam Pan from a boat.

Hi Marilyn,
although completely different for a dutchman not such a strange phenomenon. We also still have some villages where rowing like this is the usual way of transport in the wet streets.
Wll composed photo wit a lot of couleur locale.

Bonsoir Marilyn,

Pas de risque de colisions ici comme ce matin sur l'Ile de France pour certains avec la neige... Ni de fous sur la route. Une image apaisante et traditionnelle sur le lieu, en voyant la bonne luminosité je pense qu'il devait faire assez chaud. Une composition aux couleurs naturelles bien agréable, merci Marilyn.

une photo super réussie de cette famille sur une barque a fond plat avec une lumiére qui donne ces reflets, un cadrage serré bien vu, j'aurai aimé voir une version plus large avec l'environnement de ces maisons sur pilotis, beau tavail

Another excellent photo with a wonderful composition, very good daily life shot with the man taking his children like we take ours in a car, maybe that's a better way because the traffic jam in our streets. Good colors and POV. Light and sharpness are very good.

What a scene of this village and transportation! A very accurate and defined image with great elements of composition and shutter speed, as well as depth. If the little boy was not moving around in the boat I would have thought that this image was fixed, but as he is moving about I would have to say that you have captured an ideal look at all the elements of this area.

je ne me lasse pas de ces photos et de la vie qui semble si paisible !S'il n'y avait ce foutu régime politique,on pourrait croire à un paradis sur Terre!J'aime le village fait de maisons sur pilotis,la barque qui glisse silencieusement sur le canal,et j'aime les belles couleurs!C'est très beau!

Even though out of smileys, I cannot resist to comment on this shot. My 1st impression of this man in the front of the boat is that he looks like a wax museum copy. In fact, you were really upfront and close to shoot this capture. It felt like just going pass this boat within a few feet away. Very good color saturation and tone with this feature FG boat and the traditional houses as BG.

On croit entendre la pirogue qui glisse sur l'eau dans un silence absolu... la prise a bout portant a 18mm a donné un effet de grand angle..;D
Sous cette lumière les couleurs sont évidemment super.

Une intéressante scène locale parfaitement cadrée, je parie que l'homme ne s'est pas offusqué de cette prise de vue car j'ai photographié un pêcheur debout sur sa barque dans les marais de Bourges et j'ai eu droit à une sérieuse engueulade.

Un portrait très vif de la vie quotidienne de ces gens qui semblent de vivre en parfait harmonie avec la nature qui les entourent. On peut apprécier les maisons, les personnes et ses moyens de transport. Peut-être peu romantique qu'autres Venises, mais certainement beaucoup plus authentique.
La compo est superbe, comme la lumière, netteté et couleurs.

Very good color contrast and management of light. I like diagonal line of the boat contrasting with the vertical lines of the poles. The background scenery of the village adds wonderful interest and details. it is an excellent capture of daily life.
