The busy fish market in Sittwe is a must to see, so many fish, so much action, so much filth. The atmosphere is vibrant. A wonderful place.
Sittwe is situated on the Bay of Bengal, close to Bangladesh, many of the fishermen are moslim, both coming from Bangladesh more than 200 years ago or Burmese moslims.
Sittwe was also the town in which the recent peaceful protests began.

Is this boy a fisherman? or perhaps the son of one of the fisherman? What are the markings on his face? Fun, custom, religious? Would like to know more. Well framed picture and good DOF although the background is a bit distracting, when looking at the boy.

Hi Elaine: informative bokeh is the clincher in this fine portrait. A background that informs transforms a mere simple portrait into a cultural story. fine. regards, c

This portrait is quite moving.
The young boy has a sad glance, or perhaps is he just exhausted ?
You captured very well his expression, and I like the blurr at the background which lets us imagine the whole scene but allow the eye to concentrate on your main subject.

Super use of shallow DOF. I love the blurred scene in the background with all the fishermen. The boy is so sharp and colors are excellent and natural, skin, red cloth, tanaka on the face. Great one.

superb capture. the blurred BG creates a nice pattern. the red vest and the strange tattoes mark out the boy
