Photographer’s Note
Wherever I travelled in the world which has been under french influence at some point in time, I remarked that the only trace of french daily life culture remaining after a few decades was the french bread :) In Sittwe, situated in western Myanmar not very far from Bengladesh and India, there is a visible indian influence and, no surprise, indian breads are everywhere. The best of both french and indian culture?
Note how the 5D Mark II behaves at 6400 ISO.

Hello Vincent. Everyday life photo, - realistically and alive. There is an idea of another culture. Worth seeing. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Vincent,
The natural light source which seems to come from above is very nice and creates a soft light illuminating the interior. Nice to show us this culinary influence. I see your new camera performs really well in these dark circumstances and tehere seems to be virtually no noise at such a high Iso.

Bonjour Vincent,
Your 5D Mark II did quietly and behaved very well.
You captured a daily life situation which resolved into a meaningful image. It may look like 'an ordinary day at a bread shop', but the thing is our everyday situations are beyond a photographer's influence. Daily life is different, images are be viewed as a challenge, the makings unknown, waiting to be put together by that unique capture between the onlooker and reality that makes photography an art.
Sante ;)

Hi Vincent,
You are right. When I was travelling in Asia, after some time I was missing bread and cheese terribly. So it was so nice in Laos to have baguettes and vache qui ri :)). Here nice photo of the Indian bread preparation. Good shot, very natural.

Hi Vincent,
I saw iso 25600 from the mkII..!!!! Okay there was some noise, but still, the image was usuable for low printing quality...really amazing. So i'm not really surprised i see iso 6400 and it still looks good. Also on the play with light and shadow you captured a very nice scene and the note with our daily bread is nice touch don't you think....good work.

Not croissants? What a pity!
You are right, food is often the only thing that stays...
Your photo reminds me of my travel in India... it seems they have a taste for dirty walls! (:- (Probably tiles are too expensive). The arm of the man made your composition!
Not only it's a dynamic gesture but actually it makes the phot well balanced. And Yes, I've noticed how your damn camera doesn't produce any noise at 6400! (:- Lucky you, I got plenty of it just above 200 iso.
A good reportage photo, a fine composition.
Have a nice day,

Hi Vincent
I am jealous. I have the Canon 40D but I have been thinking of getting the 5D MkII. This is a good add for it's ability to shoot at 6400 and be noise free. A good gritty slice of life shot.

bonjour vincent
Amicalement

Hello Vince,
This is the kind of image that attract me to TE in the first place, something that looks like a snap shots, but so much more to it are the story and cultural history behind it. I don't know much about 5D Mark II yet, only from what I read. This look great for a low light area. noise is visible but we couldn't never have been able to do it with film without flash. Excellent.
p.s. I use to sell French breads in the morning in the refugee camp in Thailand with pate, vietnamese version.

Hi Vincent,
Amazing fine tones with nice focus on a cook and subtle bokeh in the foreground despite a low lighting situation.
The motion blur of his hand is also great. Nice choice of the shutter speed and ISO speed.
Have a nice weekend, Hisashi

Salut Vinvent,
Très bon WE

Hello Vincent,
A very fine picture where the play of light and shades remind me of old paintings. These very simple street-kitchen are not only typical of India but all of South and South-East Asia. I wouldn't expect much French influence in Burma ("Myanmar") though.

Salut Vincent,

Nice light - the darks and lights make for dramatic lighting. Some slight blur in the difficult moment to capture presumably with no tripod.

Bonjour Vincent,
