Photographer’s Note
As we ascended sufficiently high up the mountain, we could descry the city of Arakan and the golden roofs of the palace, which shone magnificently in the rays of the sun. Here and there, both in the mountain and in the valleys the eye fell on many pagodas, which made the view most enchanting. To the other side lay our settlement and our residence, with lakes, fish-ponds, orchards, and country houses. On the opposite side of the mountain was a descent into a lovely country which in the far distance was seen to be encircled by yet another mountain dotted with townships, villages and beautiful fields. Indeed, it would be difficult to imagine a more enchanting landscape.

Welcome back from your long break!!
This is a beautiful image taken in what appears to be the early light of the day. The backlighting combined with the morning mist creates a wonderful effect amongst the foliage and the pagodas. Your high POV was perfect for capturing this stunning sight.

Bonsoir Vincent,

Hi Vincent, There are some photos from mrak u on TE. It seems such a magic place, with strange atmosphere, misty with all these stupas. In the miniature it is not visible, only then it is a wonderful surprise. Fantastic landscape.

Salut Vincent,

Difficult shot to take with the 2 exposures - but both are clear here with the sun and the temples below. Nice orange wash thru out!

Hi, Vincent -
The thumbnail did not appeal to me at all, but when I opened it up it turned into a very interesting shot! I really like the play of light on the dust and vegetation in the foreground. But the overblown sun, though it creates a mood, does not to my mind add much, especially when compared with the fabulous foreground light.
I tried a crop to see what it would look like, and decided I liked it enough to post a WS to maybe give you an idea.
Best,
Dan

Bonsoir Vincent,
The explorer's quote describes the beauty of your photo very well; I especially like the contrast between the jungle growth and the pagoda. I've seldom seen such a generous response to a workshop.

Hello Vincent
A beauty in soft light. This is like a dreamscape with the radial rays of the sun illuminating the pagodas so softly creating silhouettes as we move to light from FG to BG. A wonderful shot!

Bonjour Vincent,

Amicalement,
Josep
