Photographer’s Note

South of N'gapali Beach there is a fisherman village. Men go fishing all night on small boats. The working day belongs to women. Every morning they cover the beach with blue nets and wait for men coming back with tons of little fish. They place the fishes on these blue nets for drying, and collect them at the end of the day before rolling up the nets.

PS je vois que tu as acquis le 5D II. Es-tu content. As tu eu des poussières sur le capteur pendant ton trip birman ? C'ést le gros point noir du 5D qui n'a pas de nettoyage intégré.

Salut Vincent! She is so lovely with her little hat and the flowers in her hair and somehow I like how she stands there smoking her cigarette after getting up early, preparing for being in the sun all day long collecting and drying fish. A wonderful tender mood and yet she stands her woman in her own sweet way. The smoke softens the atmosphere in a great way. How cute! Best regards, Barbara.

celui là aussi il est top ce portrait et presque je le préfére avec cette fumée qui part et sous une lumiére qui la met en valeur, juste un cadrage coupé a gauche un poil de plus et tout etait nickel pour moi

Bonjour Vincent,

Un joujou pas donné mais qui, effectivement, donne des résultats impressionnants. Superbe qualité d'image notamment dans la gestion de la lumière et ce magnifique relief avec l'arrière plan qui met bien en valeur cette fumée s'échappant de la bouche de cette femme. De la belle photo, bravo Vincent.

sans la fumée du cheroot la photo fonctionnait moins bien, a la focale 200 le fond est bien flouté et cela donne une super image.

Tu as saisi ici une sacrée scène. Et quelle réalisation !
Le flou d'arrière-plan est très maîtrisé et permet d'isoler admirablement cette femme étonnante.
Beaucoup de détails à apprécier dans cette composition, comme l'élégance de cette femme à travers ses accessoires, et cette lumière divine à travers la fumée de cigarette. Parfait timing.
Bravo pour ce beau et différent portrait.

Its good to see you back :-) Excellent use of the morning light, love the use of shallow DOF. Myanmar is one country Angshu and I have been planning to visit for long. But unfortunately they have an unofficial ban on issuing visas to Indian journalists. Maybe better sense will prevail and I will be able to fulfill me dreams. In the meanwhile, I would continue to browse through your gallery.

Bonjour, Vincent. Une excellente PDC qui met bien en évidence la dame dont tu as tiré le portrait. Le nuage de fumée ajoute un petit air de mystère tandis que le filet bleu nous donne un peu de contraste. Le chapeau et la coiffure ajoutent une touche couleur locale.

Excellent use of back lighting and side lighting in this image. The delicate smoke patterns from her cigarette make the image. Shallow DOF, proper exposure, and excellent use of light equals a superb image. Well done!

Another really nice daily life shot, showing the local lady, smoking, it seems very traditional there and woman smoke, they look quite elegant in some way. I only wish to see just a little bit more of her feature. otherwise, another really excellent shot with good composition and quality.

Les femmes suggèrent habituellement la volupté, là, ce serait plutôt les volutes de fumée :) Le cadrage de ce joli portrait est équilibré, et est éclairé juste ce qu'il faut. Le fond flou obtenu est parfait et témoigne du contrôle de la profondeur. Un beau et bon travail.

Did you stay at Linn Thar Oo lodge?
I have so good memories to this little paradise and The wonderful people living in these fishingvillages,the magic light before sunset the delicious food......
In 2006 I met Luca (Mistral) and In january 2008 I met Elaine(Everlasting)ther and we had a wonderful time.And I`m sure,I`ll return some day....

Tiens, j'étais passé à côté de cette superbe photo très bien choisie pour ce jour là. Le choix du cadrage en 3/4 arrière est très bien vu et la lumière superbement utilisée. Excellente qualité d'image (le contraire aurait été étonnant vu le matériel utilisé!)

love this shot, excellent timing to capture the backlight on the smoke. and this is one of those rare situations when the lack of eye contact is not an issue, the photo is eloquent even without it. I'd crop from the left though, the empty space makes the eye "fall in" there. minor point thought, the photo is great as it is.
