[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The monuments in Bagan are the silent witnesses of a a glorious past which lasted from the eleventh century until the fourteenth century. In this period Bagan was the capital of the First Burmese Kingdom and one of the largest religious centres in Southeastern Asia.The construction of temples and pagodas reached its peak. Still it is hard to imagine the grandeur of Bagan in its glorious days. Only the religious monuments made of fired brick covered with plaster and decorated with stucco relief remain. The palaces and houses were made of wood and have been destroyed by the elements.

Ironically the use of wood as a material for the construction of houses has led to the preservation of the religious monuments. By logging trees for the construction of houses and palaces as well as for the heating of brick ovens the plain lost its forest. As a consequence the climate became exceptionally dry. These circumstances favored the preservation of the religious monuments made of brick.

Good for the monuments, bad for the land and the people. The so-called dry zone in Myanmar expands now in an area of about 55,000 square kilometers. About 34% of the Myanmar population is living there. When traversing this region one could hardly believe being in south-east asia, more well known for its green rice fields than for its dusty arid areas. Water is very scarce and people are spending a big part of their time and energy looking for water where they can find it. Some make kilometers by foot or with bullock carts rising clouds of dust to fill recipients at the closest well.

Bonjour Vincent
C'est une très belle image avec cette lumière dans la fumée. TRès bon cadrage et un dynamisme certain.
Je suis en traine justement de regarder un peu comment je pourrais aller en Birmanie. J'ai envie d'y aller en Novembre.
A ton avis, peux on y aller tout seul ou c'est un plan un peu galère ?
(je voyage seul en général au Cambodge, au Vietnam ou en Thailande)

bien vu d'avoir pu avoir 2 chars à boeufs sur la photo, les 2 bien placés.
J'aime bien la poussière soulevé par le 2e, ça rend l'image moins statique.
Par contre, toute cette poussière, c'est pas cool pour les capteurs ! :)

Nice picture, perfect point of view, the light coming from the dust making it spectacular

A very Burmese image, dusty tree lined lanes and oxen. Nicely composed, especially spacing the two ox-carts.

Nice shot and good depth given by the repetition.I like the dust in the background.Nice light and shadows and good soft colors.
I`ll be in Mynmar for the first time in about 8 weeks and hope to manage good shots like this.Suggestions for my trip are verry welcome.

Very interesting shot of the daily life transportation at this place. Good capture with inclusion of the two units on the road.

I like this shot as it gives one a sense of place.

One thing you might try in a similar situation if posible is go for a lower POV and wait for the two oxen in the front to fill up the upper left part of the frame a bit more.

A little less empty space at the top might be interesting.

Well composed in a diagonal & also with the spacing of the bullock carts here. Very dusty, but the flying dust highlighted by the light creates an attractive image. A very nice daily life scene.
