Photographer’s Note

Bagan, formerly Pagan, was the capital of several ancient kingdoms in Burma. Is located in the arid plateau of the country, located on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River (Irrawaddy River) and is 145 kilometers southwest of Mandalay. UNESCO has unsuccessfully tried to designate Bagan as a World Heritage Site. The military junta (SPDC) has restored old buildings at random, neglecting the original architectural style using modern materials which do not resemble the original. The board has built a golf course, a paved highway, and an observation tower 61 meters high which belong to the son of the head of the military junta and which houses a luxury hotel. The controversial building, built between pagodas, temples and stupas has been questioned by independent agencies because of its great visual impact.

That's a beautiful picture. The straight look of the young novice can't be ignored, and the high POV, with the patterns of the walls that surround him and the feeling of domination, is a strong illustration of your note. The colors are very good, with a powerful contrast between his dress and the stones, and an excellent saturation. Well done!

Myanmar, formerly Burma :) is one of the most photogenic place I have ever been to. Unfortunately I was there many year ago, while I was still using film and my skill is not as polished. I manage a few good shot but have not yet transfer them to digital form. This is a wonderfuls shot with great details and good composition. The contrast I very strong and the red stand out well. His expression very nice and the POV from the top is excellent. Thanks
