i spent a cloudy afternoon at inle walking around the main streets meeting people. a lot of houses here are built on stilts even though they are on land. maybe these houses are really old and belong to a time when the lake extended beyond what is now the town.
so i crossed a house on stilts and there was a little old lady who kept walking up and down her room. could see her figure move acorss the window and the door. i waited for a good moment, but she disappeared. i was giving up on her and was about to leave, when i saw her again, only this time she was standing at her doorway, looking at me and smiling.
there is no tilt in this photograph, if you look at the photograph carefully you will notice that infact it is the house that is built on an uneven platform

Maybe, like in Cambodia, the lake expands in the rainy season. Great capture, she clearly spotted you, but doesn't seem to mind you photographing her, nice expression she gives you.
