As there are not so many photos of Kakku on TE, I'm selecting a few to post. This is just part of the view we have when we reach the site. There are hundreds of stupas like these ones. Many of them are being restored, like it happens in Bagan. Maybe not always in the best way, but they are. In some parts of the site, there are already trees and bushes covering the stupas.
Situated in the mountains, a few kilometres far from Taunggyi, in the Shan State, Kakku was recently open to Tourism and it soon became an important attraction in the region. It's a very ancient religious site, also visited by the Pa-O people, whose villages are situated in the surroundings. This area is under administration of the Special Region 6. It's a Pa-O territory and we needed a Pa-O guide to get there.

I was in Burma long ago when most of the country was closed to foreigners and a visa only lasted one week. The country has so many treasures and marvellous sights, like this one, which was impossibe for me to see then. This is a magnificent sight and far less known than Bagan.
I really long to go back and see this for myself.
Thanks for showing it.

Very fascinating and lovely uploads of these amazing Stupas! They seem very different from others I saw in Burma. Fine work as always, warm regards,

YES!!, Now the photo is really talking. And I am looking. Together with a great FG, the photo is really nicely telling its stories. I liked and fascinated by the previous image. But this is truly intriguing. The sky is really opened up, and is participating in your photo, A great image well seen.
With my best wishes, Ana
Have a great week,

Is this like a manufacturing plant for Stupas? :) I would difinately want to come here if I visit Burma again. Really amazin site and good to know it is now open to tourists. I hope I can see it before it got to be so crazy and over run by torism.
Really beautiuful shot with good details and love the beautiful blue sky and lovely clouds.
