Another picture from Pa O market on the way to Kakku. The little boy was crying but when he saw a strange lady he stopped crying and looked with curiosity. behind them a typical Burmese cart. I loved the view of these carts and wherever I saw them I made some photos. The broader view
of this scene in WS.
The Pa-Oh also known as Taungthu and Black Karen form an ethnic group in Burma, comprising approximately 600,000. The Pa-Oh form the second largest ethnic group in Shan State and are ethnolinguistically related to the Karen. They populate Shan State, Kayin State, and Kayah State. The Full Moon of Tabaung is celebrated as the Pa-O National Day, traditionally set on the day of King Suriyachanda’s birth.
The Pa-Oh settled in the Thaton region of present-day Myanmar about 1000 B.C. Historically, the Pa-Oh wore colorful clothing, until King Anawratha defeated the Mon King Makuta, who had established his reign in Thaton. The Pa-Oh were enslaved, and forced to wear indigo-dyed clothing, to signify their status. However, there are regional variations of clothing among the Pa-Oh. Many have adopted Bamar clothing, while men may wear Shan baung-mi (long baggy pants). The majority of Pa-Oh are Buddhists, but a written language was created by Christian missionaries. The Pa-Oh predominantly engage in agriculture, cultivating leaves of the thanapet tree (Cordia dichotoma) and mustard leaves. The Pa-Oh have largely assimilated into Bamar society, adopting many Bamar traditions and wearing Bamar clothing. (After Wikipedia)

A cute and natural daily life photo. Good eye contact made by the mother and the baby too is not camera shy. I love the expression of the cute one with red cap and running nose :-). Good natural composition to include the cart and the bull in the BG. Thanks for sharing.

Are you making it a habit of hiding your best shots for a couple of years?. I remember you doing the same after your journey to India. These two pictures are really fine, showing people in an interesting environment with beautiful colours. In my opinion pictures like these tell us much more about a different culture than any photo of a building in the blue hour :-).

A charming family portrait set in context. The little boy looking away from the camera toward his brother creates a certain air of mystery. Technical presentation is very good with top class lighting, colours and sharpness. Interesting note as well.

Mama z dwojka dziecie, wyrazie sfotografowana podczas codziennych zajec w polu stanowi bardzo cieply temat. Podoba mi sie rowniez otoczenie, ktore pomaga wyobrazic sobie ta scene bardziej szczegolowo.
Bardzo ladne kolory i kadr.
Zycze milego weekendu

Ciao e buon fine settimana

Fantastica!

Hello Malgo - I'm impressed by this shot. Firstly, you got down to the level of the mother and her children and made excellent, direct eye contact which pulls the viewer right into the frame creating a relationship. Secondly, I like the peripheral details which flesh out the story and last but not least, colour and sharpness are tip-top. Well done! Warm regards Rosemary

Noel_Byrne (17175) 2014-01-12 6:14
I love how children can do this, waaaaaahhhh, nothing in the world is more important than me and why I am crying, WAAAAAHHHHH...oh look, there's a stranger..tears forgotten :) And you captured that well too, his expression says, is this lady interesting enough to keep my tears at bay? I can almost hear his thoughts.
His mum has a beautiful expression too, although it does seem to be tinged with some sadness. Her hat has created an interesting light effect on her face too, and the scene is bursting with vivid colors.
A fantastic portrait Malgo, thanks once again for sharing.
All the best

Wonderful portrait of this mother and her children, is a touching image, which gives me some impact, because the sadness in her face is clearly visible, whether the child is serious and circumspect ...
A colorful perfect very natural.
A bright image with optimum clarity.
Very well done. I love it.
Enjoy good Sunday afternoon.

Awesome documentation of the daily life of people! She look sad. Good pov and dof with nice details. Wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

this is for sure one of those photo's where you have to sit back and just scan the entire scene, from top to bottom, from side to side.
Its a photo where you don't want to miss anything.
so many wonderful aspects, Myanmar seems to another fine destination as a country to travel to - although for some reason it just doesn't interest me a whole lot. Maybe one day though.
rigoletto (33776) 2014-01-13 7:16
and it has become a habit of mine to read gert's words under such photos with people :)
indeed, one of your best. what a wonderful composition with excellent placing of all the elements. i love your crouching POV and the natural-looking colors. seeing more of these kinds of photos, i feel like grabbing my camera to find some photogenic faces on streets.

A very pleasant and attractive family picture. There are many details and colours here, including the carriage and the animals in the background. A very interesting note as well!
chrislo (3737) 2014-01-13 12:07
I find this picture really superb. Your framing is effective and the brilliant colours draw the attention since the thumbnail. The whole atmosphere of the image seems to be from another time. You made a very touching portrait of this young mother and her children, and captured her expression wonderfully. A lovely piece of life from somewhere very far from here, in every sense. An excellent shot.
trevormoffiet (1800) 2014-01-13 16:40
I really like this composition. Nicely cropped whether in-camera or in post-processing. While it is primarily a portrait of this woman and one of her two children, the inclusion of all the other elements creates a strong journalistic style; similar to the style that we see so often in many of the images by Gert.
Angshu (53980) 2014-01-13 22:21
Hello dear Malgo
Except for her looks, this could well have been a picture from our Indian heartlands...same bullockcart, buffalos, water bottles (soft drink bottles being reused)...what's different are the dresses and the looks.
A good daily life image. They must be looking at you with curiosity & surprise of a 'firang' (white skin) with a camera
ourania (22722) 2014-01-14 12:00
a very lovely and interesting photo with an immediate impact due to its wonderful colours, abundant information and human interaction. I like very much the expressions of the mother and her baby because they are not awkward poses but reflect the situation and feelings at the moment of the capture. The textures have a striking naturalness and the colours have superb richness and intensity in spite of the moody light. I love the wide perspective and interesting narration of the workshop picture as well. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

A very beautiful and touching family picture.
Nicely taken at eye level of the child and the mother.
Best regards, Paul

Cara Itchy Feet
You provided a few moments of peace and quiet for this young mother, by distracting this little man. The photo is delightful, with superbly defined skin tones, colours and contrast. It reminds me a little of Patrick (Yquem's) work - or maybe Abmdsudi. A beautiful triple portrait, delightful.
