Surprise.., a photo from Shan, North

Photographer's Note

Portrait of Pah-O woman vendor, taken at a tribal market in Nan Pan village on the bank of Inle Lake. Here I am not only attracted to the bright colors of her outfit but also her deep intense look, weathered, a hard lived and such gaze.

I think the easiest way to bring emotion into a picture is through the facial expression of others. This is a face that speaks a thousand stories perhaps but I simply love her glance zinging sharp eyes.

Every picture tells a story....

Hello,
I agree that her facial expression is a main factor which makes this portrait very special. However I have to say also that the outfit adds a lot of colors and contrasts and livens up the picture entirely. Warm light on woman's face softens a little bit all these lines which hard life carved.

There's a tremendous amount of emotion in this shot, Abmdsudi, and it's easy to read the tired, possibly sad expression on her face and feel the same for her. Your intimate portrait, tightly cropped around her head and torso, allows us to feel as she does. The bright cloth surrounding her face only focuses the attention there even more, I think. Beautiful DOF with her left arm fading away to the right of the shot.

mi complimento per i tuoi ritratti colti in posti disparati ma sempre ricchi di espressività.
Lo sguardo intenso di questa donna fa trasparire emozioni sicuramente forti che attraversano il suo animo e la sua mente. Ma oltre allo sguardo la foto si fa anche apprezzare per la composizione nella quale anche il colore caldo del copricapo si contrappone a quello freddo del suo abito.
Ottima la nitidezza, come anche contrasto e saturazione.

Hi Abmdsudi,
I always remember my mum saying that the lines on a persons face are like a map, that tell the story of their life and show the places they have seen. This womans expression is somewhat sorrowful, but matches so perfectly with the story her face tells. The decoration on her face emphasizes the lines well, and there is a fantastic array of colour.
Your control over DOF is stunning here, and this is a really fne portrait shot. In centuries to come, an image like this will be priceless.

Wonderful portrait that captures a very real Burmese women, with their characteristic headdresses, fabric with different colors, I think according to their village, their faces painted with these powders for sun protection is something that always catches our attention.
The image reminds me very well these scenes when I visit and I keep good memories of it.
The sharpness is great and shows detailed textures and detail of his face, too colorful.
An excellent and beautiful work my friend. I love it.

An exquisite photograph of an equally exquisite woman. I love how she isn't directly looking at the camera. She is very engimatic. Her face painting is fascinating and the colours so beautifully rendered. The way you have cropped this photo is superb, and you have obtained such feeling and expression from your subject even though, no doubt, she is very shy.

You're capturing well this portrait by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's impressive to see the woman who wear the traditional clothes and has applied white powder to the face. Her expression is complicated and sharp. You catch well her look, although I am not good at taking a picture of a portrait.
