A monk studying in the monestary at Boddhi-tataung. (Actually 1/10th sec, at 86.5mm eq., hand held.)--- Thanks, Adam K. for the critique. I can't show you the background for this shot since I cropped 'in camera' except for a little bit of floor on the left.

Beautiful colors. I wish that I could see more of the background for context.

The complimentary red color of the clothing and floor combined with the sharp crop make for a powerful image. I like the L-shaped placement of his arm on one side and red cloth on the other.

I was thinking that being given just a glimpse of the background makes me imagine a group of other monks in the background. What might they be doing? All studying? Meditating? Playing poker..?(doubtful) It might just be a bunch of robes left on the floor and this guy is studying in solidute...
I just don't know. And I like that.

Really a strong photo. With a thema, color and posture. I think the color (red) and the naked right arm are the strongest parts of the photo.

Either more background or more foreground... I imagine that the polished floor would have an effective reflection. Other than that I really like the colours, light and the context.

All those reds fit perfectly and with the right sharpness, it makes a perfect image!

Fantastic photo!! The intense concentration of the monk reading the book is captured beautifully. The position of the monk and the simple red robe makes this an exceptional photo.

Beatiful colors, good crop, clothes with detail do depth , nice, very nice. The diagonal ground lines, the diagonal book line, the diagonal clothes line and the second box (the arm) makes the photo very good composed. I'm sorry for my englis, but I hope you understand I like all your photo.

I agree with Adam as far as the L shape of the arm is concerned. But for me what makes really the picture is the red background which covers almost what remains out. Gives me the desire to go to Myanmar again. Take care - Izzet

Very nice photo with great colors. It's really a shame that occidental people or monks just wear dark and mude colors..... I like to see too the concentration of this monk studying. Thanks. Marie-Aude

Hi Bob, like this as it shows a new slant on an old subject. Good and unique. Colours and clarity are excellent. TFS. Murray.

Hey Excellent capture. The moment is a great. Good intensity on the mans face and in the overal shot. The colours are warm. The floor looks like it could be eaten off of.
I'm actually surprised at the sharp quality considering the long exposure time you've used hand held. Well done.
