On May 14th there was an event in Mandalay, to celebrate the 150 years of the city. Several things were organised. Amongst them, a huge painting exhibition, with paintings from various artists, but these paintings must had only one subject: Mandalay!

I was lucky enough to be invited to this exhibition by a friend, painter herself, and whose husband is also a great painter. She knew almost every artist we met there; it was an amazing meeting point for all of them. The famest were not the less modest.

The athmosphere was really incredible, relax and exciting in same time. There was a wide range of different styles, and I admired the imagination they showed.

Sometimes I remained really astonished on how much liberty they had taken with the subject and buy the fact that it was so freely allowed to take pictures!

This one is signed by an artist named Zar Ku, and represents the clock tower of Mandalay, an ancient building which now stands alone in the middle of the heavy traffic jam, surrounded by modern constructions,
on the main road that goes from the market to the boat jetty.

As I was thinking to take a picture, I notified the kid, all dressed in red color, approaching. I decided to include this young visitor in the frame, as if he was part of the painting himself.

Le 14 mai dernier, Mandalay célébrait ses 150 ans Plusieurs évènements ont été organisées à cette occasion. Entre autre, une grande exposition de peintures, avec des toiles de divers artistes qui ne devaient avoir qu'un seul sujet : Mandalay !


J'ai eu la chance d'être invitée au vernissage par une amie peintre, dont le mari est également un peintre talentueux. Elle connaissait presque tous les artistes présents sur place; c'était un incroyable point de rencontre pour tous. Les artistes les plus réputés n'étant pas les moins modestes.

L'athmosphere était vraiment incroyable, apaisante et excitante à la fois. Il y avait un large éventail de styles différents et je suis restée admirative une telle démonstration d'imagination.

Parfois je suis restée vraiment étonnée sur la liberté qu'ils avaient prise avec le sujet et par le fait qu'il était ouvertement permis de prendre des photos!

Cette toile est signée par un artiste nommé ZAR KU, et représente la tour de l'horloge de Mandalay, un bâtiment ancien qui maintenant trône seul au milieu de d'une circulmation assez dense, entouré par des constructions modernes, sur la route principale qui va du marché au port.

Comme je m'apprêtais à prendre une photo, j'ai avisé ce gamin tout habillé de rouge qui s'approchait. J'ai décidé d'inclure ce jeune visiteur dans le cadre, comme s'il faisait partie de la peinture lui-même.
