Photographer’s Note

Si TE était une radio, la chanson la plus passée ces derniers jours seraient sans doute ce titre de The Clash "Should I stay or should I go"!

Quelques photographes émérites ont quitté le site, effaçant leurs photos, mais leur empreinte reste dans les mémoires... comme cette trace sur le mur.

Certains pensent à leur emboîter le pas... les cherchent sur d'autres sites...

Quant à ceux qui restent, -nous qui restons- puisse la comtemplation des pantoufles de vair, oubliées pendant l'exode, nous inspirer...

La petite histoire de la photo est simple. Dans la guesthouse où je logeais à Bagan, une réparation a été faite sur le mur mitoyen de ma chambre. L'ouvrage terminé, avec la présence insolite d'une paire de sandales, était pour le moins comique, mais personne ne semblait s'en être rendu compte. Ni les ouvriers, ni le proprio, ni la femme de ménage...
J'ai trouvé ça si drôle que j'ai eu envie de le prendre en photo et le partager avec vous.

Some highly skilled photographers left the site, erasing their photographs, but their imprint remains in the memories... like this mark on the wall.

Some think of fall in behind them... seek them on other sites...

As for those who remain -we who remain- may the comtemplation of the glass slippers, forgotten during the exodus, inspire us...

The little story of the photograph is simple. In the guesthouse where I was staying in Bagan, a repair was made on the wall next to my room. The work finished, with the strange presence of sandals, was quite comic, but nobody seemed to have noticed it. Neither the workmen, neither the owner, nor the cleaning lady...

I found this so funny that I wanted to take a picture and to share it with you.

Bonjour Marine,

Colourful and minimalistic, yet full of hinted drama. This is a shot I like. Did you notice that the dark cement patch looks like a (miniature) human figure? Once you do, that makes the shot even more impressive.

Still hanging around.
But not left behind.

We'll see what happens...

A Aix ou au Myanmar tu trouves toujours des trucs!
Super bien vu ce qui ressemble à un bateau sur la ligne d'horizon et ce personnage prêt à enfiler les tongues posées là pour partir au loin!

Le titre est tjs d'actualité. Pour ma part, je reste pour l'instant, après pas mal d'hésitations, ne serait-ce que pour partager ce type de photo! Elle est géniale et si tu l'avais publiée je ne sais où, je ne l'aurais jamais vue.
T'es bien sûre que tu n'as pas posé ces pantoufles???
Ce drôle de petit bonhomme est vraiment pris entre deux feux avec ces marques rouges qui l'encadrent!
Un super coup d'oeil que tu nous sers au bon moment!

Ca c'est un retour gagnant !
Je ne peux pas imaginer que tu es bakchiché le maçon pour lui faire faire ce petit bonhomme triste, abattu, la tête dans les épaules et qui s'en va en oubliant ses sandales...
Comme un bateau sur l'horizon...il est là aussi.

Hello Marine,
Well seen and well executed this funny but also somewhat dark view. Has the owner of the sandals disappeared forever or changed into a ghost ?
And I can only advise you to stay, I believe some concerns are justified but also have been stirred up far too much...

apt title for this funny shot, once again you've shown your skill in abstractions, I like this photo a lot. and as to the slippers, well, may be they were left behind just for that reason - if there was a need to establish who was the person that did the renovation in this particular room :)) this is very well seen and presented, my compliments.

Bonjour Marine,

Je partage entierement ta note. Et la photo par la meme occasion car elle est tres evocatrice. On y voit la silhouette d un enfant qui regarde un horizon ou un petit bateau semble s eloigner dans les couleurs du couchant. Les pantoufles donnent une touche d insolite, un ancrage dans la realité et nous emmene vers d autres horizons.

I see you just came back from a wonderful journey I see. Unfortunately you came back to TE while it's in a stage of changes and many of our beloved members have left. I, myself has not decided what to do. This much I know I won't go, but I may not stay as active, I was already slowing down before the changes.
Myanmar, one of my favorite country that I have been to. So beautiful landscape, culture and people, and the people so kind and has gone through so much.
I like this very simple POV of the wall, the slipper as the main anchor point, to show the relaxing and casual mood, the graphical shape of the wall are up for interpretation. I like it. To me it is not a feel good interpretation, but I see a soldier standing guard to keep the Burmese people in place, the battle ship in the background. the sliper to me represent the community, temples, houses and the beautiful people. and the soldier is so much bigger.........over power the people.

Enfin tu réapparais, et avec toujours le même regard sur les choses. Jolie vision photographique d'une nature morte qui n'est visible que par des yeux experts.

This is a highly intriguing picture. A fascinating expressionistic composition with a vague impression of the shadow of a man with an undefined blue spot and the silhouette of a small boat between marvellous red colours and then the amazing contrast with the realistic slippers !
I also appreciate your text about the all the late TE-excitement.

given the recent atrocious 'uplift' to the website, I am not surprised that many have left. You should definitely stay though. This is a fine composition with very nice contrasty colors.
