Photographer's Note

Myanmar's Thingyan, or water festival, heralds the coming of the monsoon as well as the Burmese New Year. It is a four day festival of revelry, the highlight of the year, when the normally reserved Burmese let their hair down and the country comes to an almost complete standstill. The festival is also celebrated in Thailand, where it is known as Songkran.
