Photographer's Note

The chinthe is the iconic symbol of Myanmar. It is often found protecting temples and pagodas, is on the national currency and is a common feature of local art. Frequently expats confuse it with a "toe" a mythical creature with a lion's fore-body and a horses hind parts, often seen in opium weights.
