An impressive shrine that the majority of tourists pass by without stopping, as it is located at the foot of one of the most visited temples of the region, without any specific indication.
The exterior is squarish, rather flat and as banal as can be, but once passed the small doorway, what a surprise to discover this lying buddha, filling the space almost completely, with only a narrow passage to walk around.
Surely one of the highlights of Bagan, ignored by most visitors, as I was alone inside for at least half an hour, while buses of tourists were climbing the steps of the adjacent temple (arriving much too late, 45 minutes after the sunrise) to have a panoramic overview of the plaines, before hopping back in the buses for another temple.

In my opinion this one is an impressive work! You had a luck to see this scene with praying monks in such a stunning place with this huge statue and lights placed around which built a special mood of the image. Perfectly seen and executed as always. Like it a lot!

Great DOF and light. I'll check it out next April when I'm back yup there. Thanks for the tip.

I can swear that this an NG quality photo standing out tall amongst many other snapshots in the main gallery... The lack of appraisals here is not comprehendible to me, anyway, you already know the quality of your work.
Have a great week (and thanks for your words. the member giving the odd number also added the photo to his fav.s. C'est la vie...)

Hello Andre - There is a touching intimacy here. I love the way the monks are embraced by the Buddha, to me it seems as if he is caring for them both physically and spiritually. Beautiful light management and a shot that far exceeds a mere record by conveying the essence of faith and benevolence. Top class. Warm regards Rosemary

At first glance it reminded me a scene from Gulliver's Adventures :). Excellent work, great ambiance.

One of your best posts recently. This one is very good. I like the pov to include just enough of the hand below to make it recognizable as a hand. The distrubition of the candles on it is great too, leaving more darkness below. This is mirrored in the top of the picture where the top of the head gets a similar amount of dark. And then in the middle: prayer in action. Great picture!

At first glance, it seems that they are in a cave
I didn't see the bouddha at first !!
It's a great image, the light is fantastic and very hard to managed and you did it VERY well !
The composition is very good, the candles at the FG and the whole image is very well built

Hello Andre. A very nice and subtle photo. The close image section shows only what is truly important. Fantastic light and colors. ... a masterful shot.

I love the composition. Great lighting, the framing, shadows and how the details were exposed. This is an interesting destination, I shall consider this one as the next destination. Great shot!

Ciao e buon fine settimana

Hi Andre. Such an intimate photo of these little monks in silent prayer, close to their spiritual teacher and inspiration. The candle light is beautiful and the light and shadows calming. Buddha's enigmatic smile and the novices' respectful poses lift the heart. Great work Andre showing exceptional skills. Regards. Klaudio.

Namaste my dear friend Andre
Hope you are doing great!
Its easy to pick on a shot from your gallery, because all spell quality with a capital Q
Its difficult to comment on your shot with something constructive, as I feel overawed!
But then I cannot but not put in my words...can I?
The first thing which struck me was 'what are they guys doing?' It's as if they are whispering their prayers close to the ears of the mighty Buddha or as if asking for redemption (more from their posture).
The place must be really narrow...The POV proves that. The exposure with the candle light is exquisite, even though we have sunlight coming from the door perhaps, highlighting the face of Buddha.

The scene is wonderful and you catch it in an amazing photo, with all the feelings of it.
Best regards, Maria

This picture is beauty! Light is superb and composition perfect... This picture makes me want to bring my tripod in Myanmar, even if I know that I don't have this kind of talent... Arg, my back is not thanking you I guess!
