Praying in the Ananda Temple, a photo from Mandalay, North

Photographer's Note

Three men praying in front of one of the four Buddha statues we can find in the Ananda Temple. Each one of the four statues is facing a different direction (this one is facing the North).
The Ananda is one of the most important and also one of the best restored temples in Bagan. Built in the 12th century, during the reign of King Kyanzittha, it's cruciform and a fusion of Mom and Indian styles.

Lovely low light shot of this beautiful temple, Ana. The slight movement you capture in the adherents here brings it to life, while the glow from the golden statue is warm and strong. Nicely done!

Light indoor's the shrine beautifully applied, golden Budha and the surrounding lavish decorations, also in golden colors, are most impressive.
The men praying gave scale to realize the hight of the statue.

Hello Ana,
Very effective perspective of this impressive Buddha statue. The combination of the low viewpoint of the statue and the vertical lines of the temple works well. It gives a very dynamic angle. The light and shadows are perfectly captured, and together with the inclusion of the praying people, they give the picture a strong impact. The image is well framed, with fine details and superb colours. Very well done.

This are the most difficult picture for take, through the strong gold yellow color and intense light on the statue in these temple.
But you did excellent with high result

We often see the outside of this temple, but rarely the inside... thanks for showing this big Buddha, with the 3 people praying giving a sense of the scale.

I remember Ananda Temple but did not go inside. I like how you got in quite close and really filled the frame packed with lot of details creating a sense of realism and profound strong look showing the immense devotion and serenity in a state of pure calmness and so much peace reflected. Wow! The grandness of the place is amazing & what I like most is that the place spells peace & quiet. For the 3 sec exposure, did you use a tripod? Fine work...possibly also the first pic I am seeing from inside the Ananda temple
