Photographer's Note
Myanmar is , I believe, the only country in the world that produces lacquerware using totally natural materials, the "old-fashioned" way. TO dry a single layer requires a waiting period of about 6 days and for a piece that has up to 24 layers, that's a remarkable amount of time for a piece to be completed.
Bagan is the epicenter of Myanmar's lacquerware industry and the craftsmanship of the pieces is quite remarkable.
