One of the boat trip from Mandalay to Bagan. We took a government run ferry boat. It stoped at a town called Pakokku. As the boat stop for a short time, passengers can't get of the boat and can't make shopping. As the seller are not allowed to come into the boat, they have to go into the river to sell thier goods. A banch of banana cost only about half a USD.

Hi Yeah, strange image you have captured, bodies half immersed in the river. They dont seem to be trying to catch your attention. Your interesting POV creates a nice pattern with the women and the reflections.

great photo, nice pov. i like the fact that eachone of them are looking diferent directions, each one are trying to atract a diferent buyer.
Mario

Bonjour,
Voici une image curieuse : il faut la regarder en format plus grand pour comprendre la situation et l'angle de prise de vue. Belle composition et couleurs naturelles. Les expressions des visages sont bien différentes... Beau travail. Gérard

This is very strange, at least for me. People in water trying to sell their goods. I'm also wondering about the mask (or something like that) on the face of the woman on the right side. Is this frequent? Anyway, I like the picture as it show well the scene. None of the women look at you, and I like that, since it is like if you are not there, showing a very candid picture. This is life in action. Very good picture to share in TE. Thanks!
Claire

Hi Yeah,
I remember this moment... I like your POV from the boat.
I post my version in the WS, but yours is better ! ;-)
Just for fun !
Well done

great view, great POV and colours.
good focus.
I have on TE a very similar image, but with different colours.
thanks, ciao

very good idea of a shot, I regret that the lady on the right is a bit absent,ie not staring up, but a fine and original contribution, Yeah!

Hi!

Hello Ye, back to Yangon and for some days rest? you know I'm still waiting for these Shan balloon festival shots ;) ...

Let's talk now about your photo which is perhaps one of he most achieved you uploaded yet. I really like how the women are diplayed in a diamond shape, that's precisely what makes the quality of the shot, I also praise how their straighten arms provide a kind of interaction with the reader... well, I suppose the one on the right had bought very good tanaka bark and wanted to show it, it seems... aren't they selling the yummy milk and sugar cookies you used to take for the road?

btw have you got any inside news of the gvt wanting to move the state capital away from Yangon, because of their fear of a US raid coming from the sea?

Hi Yeah
Interesting daily life shot. Pretty unique one, too. Have seem such act!!
The sellers, going all out, to sell thier goods, yeah, they have to, to make a living. And staying in the water while doing that. That's a very heart-warming act, pal.
Cool image and well done, Yeah.
Eric Lai

Great stuff, Yeah, yur high, almost vantage point gives the image an almost surreal, thatrical quality. Beautiful, subtle colors and spacing in that still water...
BRAVO!
Francis

I like your composition here, Yeah, with the four women in an almost geometric design. You have captured well their desperation to sell something through the expressions on their faces and the movement of their arms. I suppose they are not looking at you because you have a camera and less likely to be interested in buying something. It is sad to see how hard these women have to work to earn a few dollars, but of course this is common throughout the developing world.

Cheers . . . David

PS: Hope you did't mind me answering a few of the questions above on your behalf, but I know you are away at the moment.

Great POV to show us what these women are selling. Funny to see how they stand in the water. Many nice details.

:) Tina

this is a great photo, great focus on the facial expressions of your subjects, what's in the lady's face?

properly exposed interesting and funny shot about not so funny situation. shows perfectly well situation of the people degraded in their own country, crawling around boat ferrying tourists who supply this way vile military regime with the precious dollars. I am a tour leader myself, and while in Burma I try to avoid as much it was possible government owned hotels, transport and even "tourist attractions". I wonder what is view of native person working in tourism industry out there.

Hi Yeah,
That's a great picture,with a lot of emotion ,
Emotion on each face of the sellers !
you catch a very nice moment,we could feel the tension .
beautiful colors and the water on backgroud gives power to the scene.
Bravo.

Tom
