Photographer’s Note
The monastery, now a museum, was built in 1882 AD. Forty-five wooden carvings, depicting episodes from the Jataka tales, adorn the balustrade. A galvanized metal roof has been erected for protection from above. Salay, like Bagan, has much to offer, in the form of pagodas and monasteries. It is located 36 kms south and east of Bagan.
