Pahtos are hollow religious structures such as temples or shrines. Bagan has a bit over 2,000 identifiable monuments and another approximate 2,000 piles of bricks that most likely were structures.

These were built over a 240 year period, a massive undertaking for a time where everything was done with human and animal power.

Another nice sunset image, Bob. I really like the golden color of the structure, but somehow miss the deep sunset hue of the sky as in your previous shot from the same location. It would have been nice to have both present in this image. Nonetheless you captured the temple well. Again what I like here is the "looking through the trees" angle. Well done.

I like this photo. Perhaps the only thing i don't like is that tree on the left side, but the colors of the temple is very good. The tones of colors caused by sunset make the temple very beautiful.

In February, colors are not as great as during the rainy season in Bagan, but you managed to give a warm colored view of the majestuous pahto Gawdawpalin. I'm also quite surprised that the sky is so faint, but I believe this does not harm really the picture. I would even say that this puts the warmth of the temple more prominent. Well done.

Nice shot, Bob. I like the coloring of the temple, wish the sky was a tad different (unless you wanted this color). I wish the tree branches obscuring a part of the temple were pared back a little- but overall, it's very enjoyable for me to view.

Nice formal pic of the temple in beautiful light...but I think the conmposition is a bit unbalanced, with the rtee not quite in the right place in relation to the temple (it obscures rather than frames).

Bob: beautiful sunset shot. I don't think any of my shots of Bagan came out this nice. Crisp, I think, for a 2.1megapix camera. nice.
