[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I apologize for the unoriginal title after my last post and for the bright background, having said that I wanted to show not only another tattoed Chin lady but her earrings. Young Chin Girls were tattooed at youth, as they grow the design stretches across their faces creating different features, which closely resemble a spider web or a sunrise. The Laytoo Chin women usually wears traditional drum-shaped silver earrings.
For more info on the tradition of facial tattoes see my last post.

Elaine,

I really enjoy this portrait... The lighting on her face is in exactly the right spot, bringing your eyes slowly from the center of the photo outwards towards the center of the design and her eye. Perfect lining, great composure and good subject!

thanks for sharing!

Hello Elaine,

'Perfect lining' sounds a bit odd considering the woman's face, but I really appreciate informative shots like this one, even more so since this it is from a region in Myanmar I haven't visited (yet).

As a picture I think this one is nicer than your previous one, because of the woman's expression and the green dress.

Hi Elaine, that is a remarkeble face! As you say the BG is not the best, but her face makes it almost not noticable. I had no idea that this ethnic group existed. cheers, Steve

Nice daily life image with a lady that has so many lines in her faces. Also perfect colours and clarity
Best wishes,
Achim

In a way, I like more this one. It has better light and details and that earring worth well the post. The drawings on her face are more visible and impressive. Seems like a spider net. The contrast with the background is excellent. Only the pose and composition are not so good, specially the right side that is a bit too tight. But since the earring is what matters here...it really shinnes :)

Dag Elaine,
Groetjes, Henk

Hello Elaine,
This is exceptional travel portraiture! This stunning photograph is of National Geographic caliber (I am not trying to be patronizing... when I say this I mean it). The image is so outstanding that the background doesn't bother me in the least. The background is fine as it is anyway. The warm glow on her face is marvelous (you didn't use flash so I am wondering if you had a small handheld reflector in this shady spot) and that large earring is really the one item that really makes this photo "pop". The tatoos are fascinating and I like her slightly uneasy manner; it gives as hint as to how reserved (and protective of thier traditions) this Chin culture is. A fantastic, world-class photograph!

Dag Elaine,
and compliments for your anniversary on TE!
I think I have some images of this woman.
It was a nice escursion on Lemro river from Mrauk-U. You bring me back in time and still remember the nice atmosphere of Myanmar.
Nice portrait that shows well the typical Chin tattoed faces.
A smile
Luca

Hello Elaine
Congratulations for your 401 posts ;) I've looked at the previous one too, and I have to say these tattoos are amazing;
Here the woman had nicely posed for you in showing her profile, allowing us to look at her tattoo and earring in a nice tight framing.
Have a nice day
Marilyn

A great everyday shot, quite exotic and uncommon for Europe.
I love the light and great tight framing but I think I would prefere the one a bit more cropped at the bottom.
In spite I like it very much, regards, Agnieszka

Hi Elaine,
beautiful portrait
Viera

Incredible tattoo, well worth showing here ; I like the combination of the rhytmic patterns and the wrinkles on this face, it goes well together - were those Chin villagers easy to reach, I wonder = I should have a look at your other photos before asking this, never saw such tattoos in Burma but I know that there are so many different minorities living there...
Compliments,
Cath.
