Hello everyone, I got a moment to share some of my Mongolian memories with you. This is another sunrise photo from another place we stayed in Mongolia. It was particularly interesting night as we have adjusted our trip schedule and we were not really sure where we stay that night. We have passed couple of camps that our guide thought we might stay, but there were none there, so we drove on..

Imagine complete darkness, no signs, just dust road (if you can actually call it a road) and nothing around us. We started to be bit worried where we'll sleep that night, but somehow our driver remembered one family he stayed over once. I have no idea how he found it, but he did. There were two of these gers, where a family lived their usual life. We arrived there and they were very kind to let us stay in one of their gers and they all move over to the other smaller one. Imagine, it is like you live in your house, some strange group of foreigners come over and you move to your garden house and give them all your house to stay in. We have been deeply impressed and thankful. This definitely wasn't typical tourist thing, but real life experience, especially when all 7 of slept in this one ger… you really have to rethink what is your personal zone..

This photo was taken next moring just after the sunrise.

Here are some photos from Mongolia & Gobi Desert:

Wonderful warm early morning light here Lucie, and the quality of the light is the key to the success of this image (as I'm sure you know).
Good composition too, with the off-centre placement of the ger, although the shadow in the bottom left corner is a little heavy; I would have liked the details there, especially the dog, to be more visible. Can't have everything!
This is a great shot, well done.

Cheers,
Ben

Hey Lucie

Great comp and colors. You could not have found a better background. Excellent image of a ger. Well done.

Great shot Lucie. I really like light here, and there's much interesting detail in the yurt with its orange door frame and attendant guard dog. The low clouds provide good atmosphere and seem to accentuate Mongolia's open flat vastness. An excellent composition. Regards,
Ryno

Hi Lucie

Wonderful story Lucie! I have also been overwhelmed with the hospitality and friendliness of people when travelling, which really puts our western culture to shame. It's times like those that your soul opens up to a new world of possibility and understanding. Great photo too!

Hello Lucinka,
Wonderful sunrise photograph.
The light and the colours are superb.
Waking up in such a setting must give you a lot of strength and enthusiasm for the rest of the day.

Hello, Lucie--
NIce work here, the lighting was terrific, and the composition is nice as well, although i think that if you had managed to find a way to pull the cloud above the roof of the ger it would be a little bit stronger.
Thanks!

Hello Lucie,

Bravo !

Fantastic warm light illuminating the already warm colours there. i like very much the long low cloud in the sky. An excellent one, congratulations!

Awesome story Lucie and a very good photo as well. You really do paint an excellent picture with your words as well as with your camera.

Thanks, John

Beautiful light here once again. It's a pity the dog is not more visible because he is a great element to give some life to this one. It's like to see a "guardian angel" in the middle of the desert. I guess these hotels really have some special features and this doorman is really original. Nice red frame around that green door.

Good warmed colours and nice light. Excellent shot.
Best regards
JJ

Needless to shower you with the compliments this photo deserves as so many have done so before me!

You have captured a strange kind of intensity in the colours and contrast as the dog by the door appeared only as a blob to me at first. I really had to keep on looking at it to discover it. Of course now that I've seen it I wonder how I could have missed it in the first place.

Sounds like you had quite a trip and that you managed to see much more than the big city lights *lol*
Imagine complete darkness, no signs, just dust road (if you can actually call it a road) and nothing around us.
Sure sounds like Heaven to me!

Any tips, suggestions, thoughts for someone who's seriously thinking of getting lost in that region of the world?

TFS! And all the best,
Julia
