Photographer’s Note

This is a canteen that my husband brought back with him from a trip to Mongolia. It was given to him as a gift from a Mongolian man. It's made from one of the stomachs of a camel. Mongolians use camels for many purposes...this is only one of them. It bothered me to see it, because I have been reading on the internet, and it seems the Mongolian camel is close to becoming extinct because of their many uses of it...for example...for food, for its hide, for its stomach and intestines, etc.
