Tourist Ger Camp, a photo from Tov, East

Photographer's Note

One of the few shots from Mongolia that I have, at 1,700 pixels, meaning a full size is possible here. This is one of the 3 tourist ger camps near Turtle Rock, in Terelj National Park, near Ulan Bator. I think it's Khan Tourist Park. The others are Mirage where I stayed, & Terelj Lodge.

Mongolia is justifiably known as the land of blue skies. Mongolians call their circular tents 'gers'. It's only the 'reindeer people' in the northern mts, that use the triangular, wigwam shaped 'yurts'.

I always find those photos from the far away lands and desolated landscapes most interesting Chirs. As here with a good inclusion of foreground landscape leading the sight in to the camp in the back. Most interesting place.

Hi Chris,

The sky is impressive, it is sending a light which is enhancing the colors and the clouds giving some shadows to the scenery. The rocks in the foreground are framing well the camp. The point of view takes our eyes toward the camp then toward the mountains which is giving depth to the composition. have a nice day.

Good window you created with the rocks in the FG...The wooden huts & the gers are located in a nice saucer like valley with fine sky above & shadows cast on them by clouds. Beautiful!

Superb! This photo stood out to me. I would like to go visit there one day. Your picture is clearly in focus throughout. I like your POV, how you used the rock to frame the photo. The Yurts are placed in a eye pleasing way as well.

PS Yes that is a rough neighbourhood. I was glad I didn't go there by myself. But overall still a safe place to live.
