Though very simple, that's a brilliant pic. By the way, is it a yurt or a ger?
I like the way the horizon follows the yurt silhouette esp. the center "peak", another good thing is that no foreground masses overlap background lines, ie. neither the yurt nor the flag crosses the horizon line.

The slightly underexposed overall density is also top notch as it helps bringing out all details and doesn't blow out the whites.

My only nitpick would be about a little more sharpness maybe.

In any case, an excellent shot out of a yet simple subject.

This yurt seems relatively new, the ones I have seen on other photos showed a lot of wear and tear. It looks very inviting to go in, especially with this lovely door. I think it should be placed in architecture category. I'd be curious to see the interior.
Colors and sharpeness are A1 but I would have liked to see people here.

Very nice yurt picture showing the whole thing. How do you acquire a yurt to stay in when visiting Mongolia? I have to wonder what Ulaanbaatar is like.

Interesting echoing of the yurt in the mountain behind makes for a good composition. Nice saturated colours.

Joli paysage coloré, mais un peu centré.
Un léger décalage vers la droite, l'entrée de la tente et le sommet de la montagne sur le tiers vertical du cadrage aurait donné plus d'impact au regard.

Pretty coloured landscape, but a little centered. A light shift towards the left side, the entry of the tent and the top of the mountain on the vertical third of framing would have given more impact to the glance.

Did you really? wow... looks like the end of the world to me. But beautiful! Maybe a little more contrast and brightness..
very interesting photo.

Good composition both in placing and in colours. Note that the shape of the tent repeats itself in the shape of the mountain. I think you can increase the contrast slightly.

Que buena foto !!! I like very much this photo and the meaning of this. Easy and great. The door detail is nice.

oh, I missed this one... such a simple picture. but really great... I really like compostion of colours here.. the red flag on the blue sky looks fantastic. and also the yurt in the middle of the frame, really great picture! goes to my favourites

I like this composition, the way the white fabric contrast with the soft tones of the landscape around it. It seems just a bit soft and the white seems it might be under exposed. I took a quick shot at it in workshop, I hope don't mind.

Nice and simple - I like the stark lighting. Perhaps a bit more space wouldn't be bad.

There's a favourite film of mine set in Mongolia - Urga - where the red flag on a pole indicates something altogether different...

I think someone else mentioned this: I like the way the roundness of the yurt is reflected through the background.

Great picture here, I like the mongolion style hut, it brings back memories of my previous visit there.

Great backdrop iswell and also the sky and the red flag goes well!!

cant wait to see your new pictures and welcome back

Great shot. I love the way you aligned yourself so that there is some negative space between the flag and the mountain. The slight ondulations of the landscape seem to be reflected in the clouds on the day you choose to shoot. Nice thinking!

The red of the flag is excellent on the blue of the sky. The mountain behind gives the same idea of elevation as the roof of the house.

Nice shot !
And very nice place to live !
Colors of the door look great. I wish I could take pictures as beautiful as this one.

Merci de nous faire voyager dans ces régions que Kessel nous a fait aimer avec "Les Cavaliers". La photo nous présente la yourte avec la colline de même forme en fond.

Hi Lyn, This is actually called a ger in Mongolia. It is known as a yurt in other central Asian countries. It is not easy to take a good picture of a ger or yurt without people in because it is hard to know how to position it in the frame, but you have done well here to position it below the contours of the hill which creates an interesting POV. Nina said she would be curious to see what the inside of one looks like. I have posted one here
Cheers . . . David
