The Ider River flows northwest, to become the Selenge River, which eventually joins Lake Baikal's central eastern shoreline. Notice the dented trash racks & dip at the back of this decrepit old bridge.
Another superb view here:

Wow! Nice bridge! You have a really good point of view from here. Also the colours are nice and bold!
cyborg83 (4515) 2008-07-02 2:42
I like your photo a lot, the bridge is really original - I would not try to drive a car over that bridge - it doesn't look so stable :)
Nice POV and colors,

Un pont charmant et une architecture différente de ce que l'on connaît en Europe.
Très jolies couleurs et belle lumière.

jhm (142067) 2008-07-02 3:27
The photograph from Danny Yee is a super wide angle lens or a stitching picture, but very lovely for look it, thanks for this lovely link.
Your photograph is certainly also very nice, but more recently image with the protection against the bridge pillars on the river.
All your pictures are for my a part of vacation, thanks you very much for to show of this images
japiey (10163) 2008-07-02 4:03
The composition is interesting.
snunney (87420) 2008-07-02 4:17
Superb light and colours for this fine composition. I like the point of view allowing us to see the mountain peaks in the background. Great sharpness that helps emphasise how rickety the bridge is.
RADEEH (2802) 2008-07-02 4:20
Wow This is a fascinating bridge !
Excellent PoV to bring out this bridge !
I think these type of bridges are very few
Whether motor vehicles can pass through this one ?

What a rbidge, what a construction. A most interesting place and the photo made from a fine pov really making the construction stand out. Well seen Chris

Very interesting feature, love bridges of course. Nicely rendered in film, it certainly retains a special look.
velocista (897) 2008-07-02 8:14

azaf1 (15929) 2008-07-02 8:18
An excellent view of the bridge. Close enough to see the wooden construction, never seen anything like this before, great POV and colors
albertz (2468) 2008-07-02 8:45
Nice bridge, a very unique one. I can see it's old and weak but your pov conveys the opposite. Well done.

A very good POV for the photo of this bridge. The construction can be seen very nicely. The colours and light are both attractive too. Thanks for sharing!

this kind of bridge makes me thinking of The Bridge on the River Kwai, indeed seems not very stable, good angle and framing
bracasha75 (24585) 2008-07-02 10:14
Not realy symetric bridge but still look very save...
i love this type of "people" architecture if yopu understud what i mean
patshoo (952) 2008-07-02 10:43
Attractive scenery,Interesting and older look wood structure, Well sharpness in this scene had expressed the amazing wood structure detail and composition of diagonal line of bridge made a leading line too.Good work,TFS.
devimeuxbe (58557) 2008-07-02 12:51
THis is a nice vision on the bridge of wood. You get a perfect perspective.
danyy (0) 2008-07-02 13:52
une composition toute simple avec un ouvrage traditionnel mais sans doute suffisant pour traverser cette rivière.
Belles lumières et couleurs naturelles.
barrufeto_77 (28886) 2008-07-02 13:53
Nice view! It's amazing that bridges as this one still exist.
Good colours as usual.
jmdaoudal (82) 2008-07-02 15:30
Gret place and so authentic...
I like yu permanent use of the Pentax :-))
trekks (14348) 2008-07-02 18:26
Amazing bridge, a classic example of what is called 'un-even settlement' of the river piers.
Made entirely of wood, such a thing is rare to find, especially of this height. This is what TE is all about, Chris, of learning about the world through photography. Danny's version is great to show the full bridge.
A crude way to build but it works.
gneufeld (15890) 2008-07-02 18:28
Has seen better days for sure, but a good shot as a reminder to those that travel in the area. The diagonal lines add punch and the details and colors work well. TFS. Gerald
keribar (43841) 2008-07-02 21:08
An extremely interesting picture of this old rusty bridge, we don't see to many around here. I also like the diagonal and the warm rust colors which give such a distinct character.
Friendly yours - Izzet

Hi Chris, a sort of Kwai Bridge!
excellent reportage from this far away country, colorful and good POV too.
ribeiroantonio (22637) 2008-07-03 6:08
Is this bridge still in use? How old is it?
It is a very good picture with beautiful colours and a very appropriate POV. I love it.
TopGeo (38206) 2008-07-03 6:24

danos (88923) 2008-07-04 0:30
very nice presentation of this wooden bridge over the Ider River.I like the colorful hues and the brilliant lights but in combination with the shot by Danny Yee, i wonder if it is save to passing by a car over it, because of it is not a straight line.Well done.
Have a nice weekend,Danos
pablominto (53744) 2008-07-04 2:07
It is not often we get to see wooden bridges of this advanced design!
The point of view is effective, resulting in an attractive composition with a strong diagonal...
noborders (1010) 2008-07-05 2:28
Very impressive bridge, it looks still solid despite its rusty and somewhat antiquated aspect... I remember some other photos of bridges that you had posted before, these are lovely old constructions...
Cricri (109809) 2008-07-05 12:07
Intéressant la construction de ce pont tout a fait original et apparament fragile, bon POV et couleurs
Good evening for you
jmdias (57601) 2008-07-06 14:01
beautiful and very interesting bridge, bridges like this aren't so big and this is huge. I liked your pov and the correct light to iluminate it
Angshu (56406) 2008-07-14 22:19
The bridge definitely looks derelict, maybe fit only for walking! Reminds me of the bridge of R.Kwai. It is also interesting to see the trash metals on the bed. A fine picture in what appears to be harsh light, from a part of the world where we see so few pictures of.
I thought you had mentioned earlier about buying a new camera...did you buy one?
UnTrained (0) 2008-07-18 2:25
this good clear capture from a pleasant POV is very nice. I like the colours and the good water reflection and texture, but the bridge is superb.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf
