Photographer’s Note
More Mongolia. 2006 is an auspicious year in Mongolian history. It marks the 800th Anniversary of the Great Mongolian State and will be honored by a string of nationwide celebrations that will last for the whole of the year.
A featured part of the festivities will be the Cavalry Ride. The five-hundred-man cavalry is comprised entirely of soldiers and has been made possible thanks to cooperation from the Mongolian Ministry of Defense. As the cavalry emerges out of the grassland steppe in a cloud of dust, a fearsome spectacle is relived. The sight of the procession of soldiers marching in a straight line reminds us of Genghis Khan's mighty army.

Hello Benjamin
What an excellent shot! Love the framing and the DOF here. The dust acts as a curtain cutting off the BG. Your Mongolia pix. are all excellent
Regards
Angshu
PS : Hope you have a fast recovery from your broken leg

Hi Ben,
Yes, i like your Mongolian horsemen series too! Good double riders here providing a strong FG... DoF blurring the BG isolates them...good colors, sharpness and timing.
Broken leg?!!

hi ben,
love it all the way - the placement of the two riders, and the background "herd" following them - isolated in a distans by the boked...good one...best wishes, j.

You've done well with this one Benjamin. With this type of event it can be hard to make the image look like a scene from days gone by, but you've succeeded with this one. I like the effect of the dust that has been kicked up.

Hello,
very good sharpness and colours. I also like the composition and the background - tha fact that just behind two front horse-riders there is nothing seen, yet there are blured horse-riders on the top of the picture. Is this just the work of dust, or also some post-working on the picture?
Congrats!
Matej.
