Photographer’s Note
An unusual portrait of Genghis Khan, made from arranged white stones, on a hillside outside Ulan Bator. Mongolians pronounce it as 'Chinggis Khaγan'
"Genghis Khan (Чингис Хаан) August 18, 1227) born Temujin, was the founder, Khan (ruler) and posthumously-declared Khagan (emperor[2]) of the Mongol Empire, the largest contiguous empire in history.
Temujin came to power by uniting many of the nomadic tribes of north-east Asia and Central Asia. After founding the Mongol Nation and being proclaimed "Genghis Khan", he pursued an aggressive foreign policy by starting the Mongol invasion of China and Central Asia. During his life, the Mongol Empire eventually occupied most of Asia.
Temujin died of unknown causes in 1227 after a campaign to subjugate the Xi Xia and Jin dynasties in China. He was buried in an unmarked grave somewhere in his native Mongolia. His descendants went on to stretch the Mongol Empire across most of Eurasia, conquering all of modern-day China and Mongolia, as well as substantial portions of modern Russia, southern Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East."

Interesting how it seems to be so dry and with so green trees all around! The face drawn on the mountain is wonderful, and so are the colors of the sky! Well done!

Being made with stones placed on the ground and subject to the weather we can say that it is a very original peace of art.
The photo is very good with great colours and very sharp. And the note is excellent with plenty of good info about the Mongolian hero.

Hi Chris. Your composition is well thought out and you kept your focal point just enough off-center. The light gives you a pleasing sky and colors. This looks to be a barren and empty area. tfs Chris.

Hi Chris,
A very bright picture with strong colours and a very interesting focal point to the hill with Genghis on it.
Tree on the right is an important detail in the composition...i like it.

Hi Chris,
Mount Rushmore in the Mongolian way, that is what I thought of. Excellent sharpness to present his portrait in that beautiful landscape. I like your POV opening the shot with the bushes and the tree.

Hallo Chris!
You show us an impressive landscape here and this portrait truly adds a lot to the scenery. Your point of view creates a very good depth here. It's interesting how one hill is wooded and the others are naked. The colour's contrast between the trees and the soil is incredible. A great view!
Greetings from an a bit winterly Germany!

Hello Chris,
Interesting to see this apparently unforgiving landscape does have vegetation. Good point of view on the great Mongol warrior. Very good natural tones and definition.

Nice composition here, Chris, a desert view with this foreground tree and the rock with this "portrait" balancing the scene very well...

Hi Chris,
This kind of mountain painting is similar to what's done in northern Chile, a good way to celebrate the national hero, foreground tree and bushes add good depth to your image.
Have a nice day kY

Hello Chris,
A compelling shot, with a superb note. All the Turkic peoples across Central Asia seem to claim him, and I guess they are in large part descended from the Mongols. This is an education note experience, seeing your photo and reading your explanation.
Warm regards,

Namaste Chris
Unusual and original work of art. the landscape looks mostly arid with the brown barren earth providing good contrast with the green of the vegetation. It appears that you got very good blue skies the entire trip in Mongolia.

Bonjour Chris,
une vue toute simple sur une région restée naturelle et assez austère, notre planète a besoin de tels lieux d'évasion même si ils sont arides.

Daniel.
