Photographer’s Note
From Wikipedia:
"Sukhbaatar Square (Mongolian: Sukhbaatariin Talbai) is a public square in capital Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in front of the government building and the parliament State Great Hural. It is named after Sukhbaatar, the Mongolian leader.
Mongolia is justifiably known as the "land of blue sky". Polarized.
Today Genghis Khan's statue was built along with two of his generals on it."
At first glance, the horizon looks uneven /tilted, but the lamp-post at left, & Apartment block at right, are perpendicular.

This is a discovery for me, but in a way I am not surprised by this kind of architecture - but so different from the other images that we can get from that country !
Like in one of your previous posts, you have chosen an interesting angle and added some vivid colours to this otherwise austere scene...
TFS,
Cath.

Olá Chris, not a common image from Mongolia, from where I'm more used to see gorgeous landscapes, like the one in your previous post. "land of the blue sky" is for sure a very attractive caractheristic for photographers. Nicely composed with the colorful flags in FG and the statue against the sky, but giving space at left for a straight look to the gov. building in the back.
Cheers,
ricardo

Hi, Chris. A good perspective on this impressive building. The depth is good thanks to the flags and the statue. The flags are also a good source of contrast whereas the people give the scale of the place.

Hi Chris,
it is a bright and clear overview with a well placed statue. Especially there excellent texture, but the sand in front also. The mentioned effect of tilt is a bit puzzling but as you wrote there is not tilt.

Great series you are doing on Mongolia, one of the lesser travelled places in the world, and therefore one of the places most in need of exposure on TE. Good photo, with view of the building and the statue of Genghis Khan himself. Nicely done!

This majestuous governement building is to the size of Mongol influence on the world's destiny... The warriors of the old time from this part of the world were sleepin under tents and cooked their meat between the horse and the saddle... Happy to see that now they have a roof and certanly the last updated kitchen utilities...
