Photographers Note
We met this boy in the middle of nowhere. He had ridden his horse from his families ger to sell mare's milk along the jeep track. You could buy it by the glass or the bottle. The whole bottle was less than a dollar.
Fermented mare's milk is a cheap popular drink in Mongolia. It is made by churning mare's milk in a horsehide container over several days. After a few days it turns out fizzy and alcoholic.
*It tastes like a bad sour cream and can be very hard to digest.

Very nice, natural portrait of this child. Very good colours. Simplicity is what makes this portrait truly great. TFS Benjamin :-)

So you tried it, eh Ben? And Im sure you had a lot of fun afterwards:) How does it compare to makkoli?
Good portrait. One of your better portraits from there. The inclusion of the bottle is great because its also a cultural lesson for us.
P.S. Tonight is my last night at our building:) Tomorrow Im moving.

Ben,
Great potrait simple but then so is the boy's life i imagine. Sounds like you were not that impressed. Did it taste anything like makkoli. I guess it'd be a little creamier and not tasts lie rice! I love the innocence and that grin is just so genuine.
Cheers
Peter

Hi Benjamin,
Scene is so familiar from history. As you know mare's milk also well known in Turkish states (in the past and now) from east Europe to Chine as koumiss/ kumiss. Great portrait gives great lessons. Congratulations.

Interesting shot of this small boy with the bottle of mare's milk. It's interesting to see the contrast of the reality in witch they are living: the tipical modern and comercial hat and his reality.
Well done.
