“I am the punishment of God…If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.”
... Ghengis Khan
He was taller than normal stature, he had wide head, strong jaw and penetrating eyes and in addition cruelty that he distributed with his sword instilled fear in his enemies
Genghis Khan statue
The Genghis Khan Statue on horseback is 40 meters (131 feet) tall, situated on the bank of the Tuul River, where according to legend, he found a golden whip
I took a lift to the head of the horse, through its chest and neck and arrived at a platform with a panoramic view, quite impressive indeed

Judging by this statue, Ghengis Khan must have been a terrifying figure.
I like the composition of the picture and the fact you could include the Mongolian prairie landscape.
Best regards, Paul

Amazing shot, Maria - beautiful exposure on the statue itself, where the light management must have been somewhat difficult from reflected light. The detail of the hand and staff stretching across the frame is wonderful, as is the Mongolian steppe stretching out behind it to a distant row of mountains. Stylistically, I would have loved to see a bit more of a panorama including a wider view of the steppe rather than have the statue dominate the whole frame, but this works beautifully.

This is another amazing shot. Your POV is great. Genghis Khan looks very scary!! The blue sky and rural landscape behind him are really beautiful, too.

a most impressive depiction of this awesome statue. You have framed the picture superbly giving it amazing perspective and dynamism, very effective depth, sharpness and capture of textures. You have handled the strong light and its effects on the shining metal admirably, the contrasts are great and you haven't missed any details either on the statue or in the vast landscape. Magnificent work for you and opportunity for us to see this statue in a beautiful and suitable context. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day, I know what you mean about the Olympics,

Cadrage serré intéressant de l’empereur, une image très originale. Le poing de la main droite est situé en point fort.
Je te souhaite un très bon dimanche.

I was hoping that you would zoom in, in this second take on the statue and explore the visual possibilities, and I'm glad you did. The impression of the ruthless wielding of power, of dominating the land, is very strong. And on the graphical front there's much to enjoy too - the strong vectors and colour contrasts are great.

Magnifico trabajo, me gusta.
Buena tarde de domingo.
P/D. Aqui en la sierra estoy muy tranquilo, es un pueblo pequeño, y hace mucho menos calor que en Madrid, ademas aqui en casa con la piscina, un buen libro y el ordenador.... estoy bien surtido.

You're capturing well this statue by a good angle and excellen tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see big/silver statue of Ghengis Khan of Mongolian hero. It seems to so dignity, and is harmonized well with green plain znd blue sky in behind.
Have a nice week.

Hi dear Maria, how are you?
I have overlooked your great work for Mongolia, I have to back to your gallery. This is so impressive shot!
Nice bold close-up and very sharp and fresh color contarst of blue sky and silver metal body. I can share the greatness and solemnness of "Gengis Kahan", who tried to invade Japan too. Thanks for your sharing with finest work and have a good start of week!

i think that the statues of Mongolia and especially this one is very crude.I like the close up view of it as the most of it outlined against the blue of the sky.
adores (32184) 2012-08-14 17:10
A really famous character and I guess it's the first time I'm seeing this statue! I like the way you placed his hand and sword in foreground - that illustrates well your note! You framed him very, with the landscape in background!
batalay (33891) 2012-08-14 18:13
Now I can appreciate the statue from the vantage point offer3ed y the hose's head. That is a massive statue, symbolic of the great Khan. His influence resonates to this day.
abmdsudi (35366) 2012-08-16 11:53
Superb closeup, and of course we can't share the feeling you would have had standing in front of this massive statue, this must have been awe-inspiring especially knowing the historic background. But you've put that splendour across perfectly in this picture and yes what astonishing eyes looking straight into mine, the detail and texture is beautiful. It is an amazingly quiet place with remarkably few tourists I am sure. Great capture, TFS

Hi again Maria,
Great close up of the statue on this one, espeically after seeing the last one with the whole building. Love the blue sky and the green valley background, really brings out the shinny silver of the statue of the Ghengis Khan. Good to see the monument of it. Since I have heard and learn about him in school of Chinese History.
I like very much the perspective, the hand seem to be reaching out to me :)
mkamionka (28037) 2012-08-23 12:22
it must have been an amazing trip, I am quite jealous. I was curious if you will show the view from above.
I like that you have included here the fragment of the panorama. The contrast of the great statue with the flat fields in the distance is very impressive.
Great work and I am looking forward to see more from this exotic country.
macjake (48357) 2012-11-15 22:34
I'm very surprised at myself for missing this wonderful photo! The longer i view it, the more and more i truly enjoy it!
the perspective with the right hand is fantastic, as are the silver and blue color combinations.
wonderful work with this statue!

One of the most fearsome characters of old times stands tall in his silver attires.Superb brightness and sharpness.Very well done - Have a good day.

I must admit, I am fascinated by this place since I discovered it in your gallery. This statue is so impressive, and considering the material its made off, its very expressive in its face. That blue sky could not be more perfect against which to showcase it.
ChrisJ (92128) 2013-09-08 3:08
Wow! I don't think this was there when I visited Mongolia in 2007. A really impressive addition to the landscape of Terelj. Excellent density and punchy light contrasts yet still with good detail in the highlights. The cool blue silvery tones and blue sky contrast well against the golden handle. Tfs!
jcpix (8362) 2013-09-14 19:35
Not someone I would have wanted to encounter, glad I wasn't around in those days! :)
Now this is an impressive perspective on a statue, and one suited extremely well for its silver finish. It's quite expressive in detail and stature, and that shiny exterior against the blue sky and green fields below just jumps off the page.
A smart approach to this composition, and one that has immediate impact on the viewer. You've certainly given the sense of size and distance with the background scenery. Nicely done indeed! Have a great day ahead. Take care.
I truly appreciate your comments today. Heaven forbid a tragedy like that will ever occur again.
Miguel82 (16568) 2013-10-15 10:49
There is one critique left and it's for you Maria, good close up of that iron statue of Gengis Khan the famous war chief of the Mongolian nomads, high definition, I like the view of the endless steppes pastures in the bg
A brillant picture, buenas tardes
