Turtle Rock Front View Photo

Photographer’s Note

A front on view of Turtle Rock in Terelj National Park, which is about 55 km north east of the Mongolian Capital city of Ulan Bator. A public bus is around $1 each way. Blue khadags or prayer flags, can be seen tied to the tree at right.

Hi Chris,

Mongolia seem a mysterious country as rarely is seen on the news. Your image is very nice and the contrast of warm tones and cool tones very pretty. I wonder how big this rock is as there nothing to compare it to. Anyway, the picture is very pleasant and well composed. Thanks Chris.

This is an interesting rock formation, and the impact is enhanced by the point of view!
Well composed and fine details, the sky works well as background...
I don't quite get the scaling here but the trees give some idea!

A good diagonal compo with realistic colors and sharp details.Usually I can't see these types of formations where the rock is supposed to resemble something.you manage well with shapes and volumes.

It looks more like something you would see in the red rock canyons of the USA West. I have tried to spot the climbers without success so it must be a huge rock. Your low POV setting most of it against the sky really gives it prominence.
