Silently they are appearing, earth paths, fences, cars
Step by step, silently, civilization, or what we call it in the Occidental world, is coming to
Some few years ago, there was only the empty steppes, without roads, so no cars but horses and camels, no private property, but the whole country to live wherever Mongolians wanted
Still now you can go wherever you want on a 4 by 4 car or on a horse, no roads, and no limits but International mining companies began to invest, mainly interested in copper, gold and coal
Mining licenses are for Chinese, Russian and Canadian firms

Lovely photo of a symbolic "cross roads." I spotted the car just beyond the yurt. Along with your short note, it is a geography lesson.

Hi Maria. A sad tale for all humanity, but then as long as the ordinary citizen's life is improved, nature is expendable. Soon plastic bags will be blowing in the wind and scattering over the grasses.I just hope that the foreign companies do not rob the people by employing their own and taking most of the profits home, giving the rulers enough to live in luxury- just as the Chinese are doing in parts of Africa. This is an important photo which records possibly the beginning of the end, before terrible scars are cut into the earth. Regards. Klaudio.

You're capturing well this landscape by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the green steppes with slightly ups and down, crossing roads and mongorian yurt(гэр) as portrable dwelling structure. The fence may be for horses, sheep and camels. You point out a complicated problem in here, it is that the strong country has advanced to this country for mining of mineral resources such copper, gold and coal as you note in here. For this reason, I have a premonition which changes a lot for their present life style which is living together with nature. Foreign capital sometimes tends to squeeze without distributing wealth to local residents. This seems to the same structure as capital carried in spices, silk, wood, oil, etc. from the colony in the past based. It seems that the thing which man considers does not change in essence even if the numbers of century will pass, in such a sense. As historical teachings, own country must always be strong.

Your describtion of the country is intriguing, maybe the last frontier untouched on our planet...
Great contrast achieved with blue sky over the green landscape (Greenland maybe...).
Few living element "grow" around, made the story vivid in reality.

Ciao e buon fine settimana

Beautiful landscape especially the rolling hills and it is unfortunate that modern civilization will ruin this rural area, but I suppose that's progress. Good lighting and sharp details. Wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

Outstanding capture with clarity, detail and color. Your narrative is very apt. This country side reminds me of my home in Montana, USA for the terrain and temperatures are very similar. Bravo Maria!

Hello dear Maria,
Incredibly beautiful shot executed with a superb quality. The DOF, saturation and exposure were managed perfectly. Great work! TFS.

A great image and your well written notes. This is wonderfully weathered with great distinguishing features and good idea to colour pop this shot. Its a mixture of colours that works really and effective. The lower left bottom path takes the eye through the image diagonally to the eyecatching yurd and the automobile signify the contemporary new versus the old tradition. Nice detail and bold eye-catching colours making this an interesting image. Well done. TFS

nice the view of the place with the earthy road and in combination with the wooden fence to creates depth in the scene.
I like the beautiful environment as the beauty of the place.

very interesting upload and note. Everything depends on a point of view I guess. Same view photographed in Europe could be title "a lack of civilization" or "end of civilization" whereas in Mongolia it is the beginning.
Very educating journey and reportage. Well used fence and road here. You had great weather :)
We had 26 degrees yesterday in England and we went to the beach. First time I had a chance to wear short trousers and sandals in England!
They say it may stay few days more but while at work I don't really count it,

Ciao Naria, fashinating landscape, just a little of civilization in a beautiful enviroment, splendid light and wonderful natural colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

What a pity, your note makes me sad, but you're right, unfortunately : wild spaces can't struggle against "our civilization" and our need to consume and then throw away, as if landscapes and fragile environments were only products like the other ones. Your photo shows that change, the car and the roads have already arrived !
Thanks for your comments about my YT videos, and have a nice evening,

Bonjour ma belle
Ici le cadrage est parfait
La luminosité ambiante est très belle
Angshu (56462) 2013-07-15 22:20
Amazing picture...the fence creates a good perspective with the 3 other elements...the wooden hut, the yurt & the car in the far distance. Lovely picture of the 'civilization' at the brink of change...
jemaflor (88857) 2013-07-16 12:01
worldcitizen (7515) 2013-07-17 14:13
I really like your Mongolia photos, and this one pulled me in. The intersection of the small roads, and all of the greenery is lovely. You included a traditional yurt, and yet there is a modern vehicle right behind it. I also like the fence leading us away from the foreground. It looks so peaceful, and yet, as you wrote in your note, this is progress that might not be considered so positive from a traditional Mongolian point of view.
adores (40444) 2013-07-24 19:21
Unfortunately, that's how things work and I'm really not sure it may be called civilization. You were lucky to see it now, before it becomes spoiled. A nice composition, with some importante elements and good colours. Good note also!
ourania (35916) 2013-08-05 9:56
your composition is very simple and strikingly eloquent, your note is heart-breaking. I don't know wherther the new elements introduced in the landscape and in people's lives and culture were by the people's own choice because they judged that these were better than what they already had. The depth, clarity and colours of your picture are marvellous but the sight feels awkward. Excellent work, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great week,
Noel_Byrne (27028) 2013-08-06 11:06
This image speaks volumes of your note. The scene summons up the vast plains and steppes that we think of in this country, but the scattering of man made objects and marks show us that nothing remains that way forever. Beautiful rich colors, and a perfect lead in from the road. Great shot.
EstudioChispa (2106) 2013-08-15 13:40

Miguel82 (26546) 2013-10-09 22:46
Holà Maria, that landscape of steppes is so beautiful, two different types of houses in your frame, a wooden hut and a ger. A 4x4 is also visible in the bg, modernization and different way of life.
The lemon grass color is lovely and I like especially the corn color of the road, a brillant picture
jmdias (58570) 2013-10-23 16:14
