Photographer’s Note

Aerial view of Maale city from the airplane leaving the place, and for once I had a clean window. This is not the view somebody would expect for a tropical island. I found also quite amusing to discover that in Maale some people buys big, powerful cars.

This town is going too big for this little island, unexceptig photo from this part of the world, but well done, great capture at the right time, lovely blue colours.

This is a very surprising view. Very far from the idea of a small island just with one palm tree... Thank you for sharing it with us.
The picture is well composed, and the deep blue very nice.

You're totally right, this isn't the view I expected from Maldives... It looks so densely urbanized.

Everytime I see photos of this place from the air I think of SimCity and again that comes to mind. The ships moving about on the right, the buildings, the smooth blue of the sea. It's all very unreal the way this place is shaped and its setting. And this is very clear and clean looking as you look out and showing no horizion which is great. Very well done.

And that's interesting that they buy big, powerful cars as you mention? I would imagine, being large and powerful, they would be ineffecient in terms of fuel usage. Yet the Maldives will be one of the first places to disappear as increased global warming raises the ocean.

Hi Daniele
This is an interesting view of the capital city. Unfortunately when I flew in and out of the Maldives it was late at night, so I never got to appreciate the "landscape" of Maale from this angle. In the daytime I only ever really saw the city properly from the airport hotel, although I did catch a few glimpses from the seaplane during my transfer.
I like the way you have also included a section of the airport island and all the traffic in the channel between the two. A lasting impression I have is of the heavy traffic of boats between the two islands and your shot reflects this well. A nice composition.

elle est superbe cette vue. Pleine de détail, et quel point de vue ! On peu profiter de l'ensemble de l'île. Combien y-a-t-il d'habitants, as tu une idée ? De très belles couleurs en tout cas, bravo.
