Photographer’s Note
Pilotis indicate set traditionally wooden pickets pushed in the ground and intended to support a construction outside the water or above ground level. Pilotis are also used to establish solid foundations on spongy ground.
They were already used in the prehistory for the construction of lakeside towns. They support cities such as Venice.
